  1. Just to let everyone know that once you have installed everything you MUST have your CD in the tray the first time that you launch IronCAD, otherwise it goes into some goofy loop trying to install something else.
  2. I bid 40 seconds. I have discovered that the "surface smoothness" affects the facetting part of the test. Mine was set very smooth (120) If I set to 25 or less then we get 40 seconds. Is everyone on the same setting? Does the facetting section have anything to do with video?
  3. P2-450 147 seconds. ( 2 min 27 sec) Forget the video. That P2-500 must have the wrong sticker on it.
  4. P4 1.5 56 Seconds. 3 tries. Yes for stutter, but just a blink. Curious how a P2/500 can score 57. Must be a mutant.
  5. P4 1.5 1Gig (RamDac) 18Gig Ultra160 10k Rpm Fire GL2 6 Seconds Rotating the blocks? A breeze. 407 frames/sec @ 1600 x 1200 with this video test. Fast computers have so much more underneath the hood than processor, memory and video card. Again, you get what you pay for. Rick EdgeVBM.exe
  6. Chris et al, We appreciate all the advice and assistance from everyone. Chris, this is the same job that you and I were looking at a few weeks ago where we had no luck with the STEP file. I will send you the .igs file to look at. Regards, Rick
  7. Hey folks, I have been working with this *&^$* file all day with Rhino and I thought I would just let you know what has been happening. I started with the Unigraphics flavour Iges file as per Tom's suggestion. Rhino eats this file up without any problems. It 'Checks' OK. It will export anything you want without any problems. Basically Rhino doesn't see anything wrong with the model (all surfaces). EdgeCam will open the x_t and iges output from Rhino. It says that the x_t file is non-manifold and thus won't recognize it as a solid. The iges file is all surfaces so feature recognition is not possible. IronCad chokes on any file exported from Rhino. It will bring in the iges and x_t files but they show as 5584 parts (all surfaces, it takes about an hour). It will not convert to solid. IronCad is unusable in this state. Slower than EdgeCam support. Remember that this is a single part that we are trying to make (Baseplate). It shouldn't be this difficult. I suspect the original IDEAS model (again). Our customer is certain to be thinking that we are a bunch of morons. Cheers.
  8. Wim, Yes, you are correct. RX (Rotations X) are backwards. Frankly, (And I hate to say this) I don't use the SpaceBall with IronCad. This is why I didn't notice. Until the 'Centre of Rotation' problem is fixed the SpaceBall is essentially just a novelty. It is not productive in its present implementation. I wouldn't run out to buy one until this gets fixed. Of course this is just my opinion so take it for what it's worth. Sorry IronDudes, just telling it like it is.
  9. Create PDF files for free: "Buy a Macintosh" Any file, any application, anywhere, anytime.
  10. It won't work in metric, you have to multiply everything by 25.4. Seriously though. We have a DesignJet 4555CA and this is what we do. You must have your drawing sheets set up to the size that you want to plot. We have set up configurations in the print dialogue according to the type of paper that we want to use. File_Print_(Select Plotter)_ -Vector -Use default settings Select Properties Paper Size Tab -Landscape -Application Page Size (This should be the size of your sheet-not the border size) -Paper Source (Roll or Sheet) -No Scaling Options Tab -Colour as Grayscale -Colour Control-Set Convert Colours to Black(No Grayscale) -Halftoning set to scatter -Set paper type -Set # Copies Now, Give your configuration a name We use descriptive names like this: -CRollBond- -DSheetVellum- -BRollTracing- -Etc Save your configuration Advanced Tab -Process Document- In Printer -Save Paper- None checked -Sharpen Lines- On (Cad or Line Drawings) If you set up a configuration for every template size that you have then you can quickly just pick the one that you want. (Don't forget to uncheck "Zero Line Widths" before you plot like I always do.) Hope this helps.
  11. Drawing-Isometric View(Any)-View Properties Could someone please explain the function of this checkbox. All I see is that when it is checked you cannot put any dimensions on the view. Am I missing something?
  12. Ouchee-mama We'll let it go this time, seeing as it's your first day. But next time you'll be banished to the Rock for at least 1 week. (And maybe take a noodle whipping just for laughs) Welcome to the board.
  13. I'll say "Good Luck to Ya" if this simple concept is troublesome.
  14. You're welcome. I'm glad I could help.
  15. Go to your TiBook and start "Art Directors Toolkit". (It's in the Utilities folder) Go to "Swatches", pick the Pantone colour you want. The equivalent RGB, HSB, CMYK and Hex# is displayed. Note either HSB or RGB numbers. In IronCad, select part, smartpaint, colour tab, more colours, define custom colours. Input your values and add to custom colour table. Don't have a Mac? That's a shame. You'll have to find a chart with cross reference values for the colours. Here's a start: http://www.authorgraphic.co.uk/pantone.htm Cheers
  16. The Spacemouse and the SpaceBall are different products. The SpaceBall is for more serious users or those with bigger wallets. These products do not replace your mouse! They are supplemental control devices which allow you to work with both hands. You still need a mouse. A mega-button mouse or whatever will never do what a SpaceBall will do. Unfortunately it is difficult to explain the pleasure of using a properly configured Spaceball. EdgeCams first implementation at V7.5 was ok (zooming previously required a window select) but they got it right at V7.75. Amazing control of the model. We constantly switch back and forth between Cad and Cam. Having a consistent user interface would be a blessing. As it stands now, the SpaceBall is not useable in IronCad. You can't switch from a program that "works" to one that does "not work". I hope that this will be fixed and that this was not just a quick implementation to quell the voices of the peasants. My response to "I ... would like to know what the fuss is about a space mouse?" would be that unless you have tried using one then you could not possibly understand "the fuss". Read the stuff at Logitech. The awards and accolades from the various Cad/Cam magazines and over 200,00 users should give some clue.
  17. I heard something about an upcoming SP release. Any chance on the camera fix (COR) for the SpaceBall?
  18. I've done it. It works. You're not really running it on the Mac though. Virtual PC actually runs a copy of Windows just like any other machine, emulating a PII 450 or something like that. IronCad runs inside Windows, inside Virtual PC, inside the Mac. You do take a performance hit but what do you expect? Funny thing is that it is just as stable as any Windows system, if you can use stable to describe Windows. Also, while Windows is running (In a Window) you still have your beloved Mac to do whatever you desire.

  20. Wait. I think I'm drying off. Although there is really only one known issue, it's a doozy. (Rotation point not following part when panning) It does make it quite awkward to use. Any idea when this might be fixed?
  21. We had this problem when we were making our templates. If you "save as" it will cleanup the file.
