  1. I need to put angled holes in quite often, and what I found you have to do is, use the triball to rotate the hole to the angle you need and then move it off the part, until you can visually see that it goes thru.
  2. It is commom for a drawing file to be bigger than a scene file, I have an assembly which contains 8 parts w/7 configurations, not real complex, no animation, no textures, mostly simple shapes and the file is about 187kb, the drawing is 6 different sheets, with 3 views for each part, and the file size is 9.5mb. Does that seem right?
  3. I just upgraded to MS Office 2002, and now my icons (in explorer) have changed to the calender icon for Outlook. Its more of a cosmetic thing with me (I like the IC icon) as I don't use explorer to open files. I've tried all the suggestions, and Outlook still takes control of the .ics file. Windows 2000 SP3 512 mb Ram IC6.0
  4. I've wondered myself, if you change the width, it doesn't seem to do anything.
  5. Thanks Urban, I found it. I couldnt find it before in the customize box. Chris, I guess you can cancel that ER request.
  6. Or if it can't be done, is there a way that hidden and/or secret commands like that can be posted.
  7. Thanks Chris, exactly what I wanted to do. BTW, is there a way to put that in a toolbar? Did you get the log file I ftp'd to you?
  8. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but is there a way to open up an existing part file, lets say called 12345, make a minor change, lets say the height of a part by .250, do a save as and call it 67890. Now call up the drawing for 12345, save as 67890 and then go into the standard view dialog box, browse for part 67890, use the same views as 12345, click ok, and then do an update all views, and have the drawing update to 67890. Ive tried to do this a couple of ways and I can't get it to work. After I make the changes and nothing happens, I go into the standard view dialog box and the original part (12345) is listed as the file being used. I must be missing something.
  9. IC just crashed on me, and I would like to e-mail the log file, but its over 7mb, and my e-mail server won't let me mail it.It was stuck in a loop, (and my finger got sore from clicking ok..lol) and I finally had to end it w/the ole 3 finger salute. How do I get the file to tech support
  10. If you're referring to which one to download, you want the called Windows MultiEnhancer 5.3. I should be at the top of the page.
  11. If anyones interested, I found a program that will do what I wanted. You can find it here http://www.mywebattack.com/gnomeapp.php?id=105469
  12. I dont just mean IC, I would like every dialog box to open like that. I thought I ran across a registry hack that would do that, but I forget where I saw it.
  13. Does anyone know of a way to get the open/save as dialog box on any program to list as details, and save the setting the next time you open/save as? Like in the attached
  14. Thanks IronKevin, but I've tried that and can't get the line to snap to the intersection of the model and centerline, I even tried to create a 2d line from the both edges of the hole and tried to get the dimension to start at the midpoint with no luck. All it will do is pick the whole line and dimension that. I'm attaching the drawing and model showing the right dimension. If you want to try and mess with it. But like I said in my last post, I think I got lucky when I moved the centerline end handle, that it went to intersection. 180652.icd 180652.ics 180652.icd
  15. Thanks sshaffer, thats worked great, but there is a chance that when you move the end handle of the centerline, it really isnt snapping to the intersection, you have to really zoom in and rely on your eyesight in getting it close to the intersection (and my eyesight isnt what it used to be...lol) and you would have to edit the dimension text manually, it would be nice to be snap end handle to the intersection, that way you know its going to give you the right dimension. Anyway thanks for the help.
  16. Does anyone know how I can dimension the bolt circle with a linear dimension shown in the section view. Any help would be great
  17. When working with large assemblies, if you leave the scene browser open and need to pick more than one part, it can take (in my case) up to 10secs for the machine to catch up to my mouse clicks. So for these assemblies, I find it much faster, to work with the scene browser closed.
  18. Did you check out this post http://www.ironcad.com/support/community/index.php?showtopic=447
  19. I'm running 5.2. Performance is good for what I do here. The assemblys I create are no way hear 10meg, on average they are less than 2meg. I only use it as a secondary tool, to design some of the more complicated stuff. We manufacture superabrasive grinding wheels, so just about everthing I do is round, with maybe some complicated face geometry. And everything is then transfered to a 2D CAD system. Hope this is helpful.
  20. I run IC on a Dell Precision 330 workstation Pentium 4 1.4 ghz 512meg ram Fire GL2 video card
  21. Thanks for the tip, never thought to do that, now I dont have to recreate if I mess up.
  22. I'm from Worcester, MA. I work @ Saint-Gobain Abrasives, Norton Comany Division.
  23. Is there a way to unadd material from a part. Sometimes without paying attention, when I add to an existing part, instead of checking the stand alone option, I end up keeping the add material option checked. They way I do it now is to delete and start over. I know there must be a simplier way.
  24. Thanks Chris, after I posted, just for fun I tried it and it worked with no problems.
