  1. FYI: The Windows Firewall in SP2 for Windows XP will block our license server. Add the "lservnt.exe" executable as an exception to the firewall in order to make it work. ("C:\Program Files\ISLicenseServer\lservnt.exe") Symptoms: The SentinelLM service is "started", yet it does not appear in the "Subnet" list and you can't talk to it if you define it (in the server admin tool).
  2. In 7.0, IronCAD added the "View Out of Sync" indicators that appear as frames around your views. The purpose of this indicator is to encourage you to update your views. If you would like to turn these indicators off in IronCAD, pull down Tools/Options. On the General tab, uncheck the "Show drawing view out of sync indicators" option.
  3. Crashing could be caused by 1) Your ironcad.tbc file 2) The installation: Unsupported OS, installed while other apps were running, etc 3) Not enough ram/pagefile (once you push the limit, it can't exit gracefully) Try using the /3GB switch. 4) Not enough disk space for the %temp% variable. (IE the c: drive has less than a gig of free space) 5) The data (send us data to investigate) 6) Bad graphics drivers (Pull down tools/options/rendering, uncheck automatic, check "software", ok out. See if crashing goes away) Of course when it crashes, if it throws an "exception error", then it will often write an "exception log". In the error dialog it will display the path to the log. If you send us that log, then it will tell us more info about the crash.
  4. Note: If you want to create a new drawing of a new scene, and start with an old drawing as your base; you can use the above method. Merely copy the old .icd file (using windows explorer/my computer), and then load it and "change its source" to the new scene.
  5. If you need to access the link within the drawing that associates the drawing with a scene: 1) Load the drawing 2) Press the [ctrl]+[shift]+[L] keys on your keyboard at the same time 3) Use the dialog that appears. [Change Source] will allow you to relink the scene in cases where the scene has moved or been renamed.
  6. 1) load the drawing 2) press [ctrl]+[shift]+[L] at the same time 3) select the scene and then click on [change source] and take it from there
  7. If you are experiencing wacky or unexplainable behavior in IronCAD, deleting the "ironcad.tbc" file may resolve those problems. When you delete the .tbc file though; all of your toolbar customizations will be reset to their defaults. The .tbc file will be automatically recreated then next time you exit IronCAD. How to delete the ironcad.tbc file. The .tbc file is under a folder that the Microsoft OS hides, so first you must turn on hidden folders. Launch Windows Explorer or "My Computer" Pull down the "Tools" menu and choose "Folder Options" Click on the "View" tab Check the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" option Click on [ok] You should now be able to find the file. Before proceeding, insure that IronCAD is not running. In Windows Explorer or "My Computer", navigate to the following path. %userprofile%\Application Data\ironcad\ironcad\customization\ The %userprofile% part can change depending on what your operating system is. I will list the path's for the 3 OS's that are currently supported by IronCAD Windows XP: c:\Documents and Settings\ username Windows 2000: (This could be the same as Windows XP or it could be at) c:\windows\profile\username\ Windows NT 4.0 SP6a: c:\windows\profile\ username\ Note: username means that this folder name will (usually) match the name that you login with. Note: It is possible that your userprofile is in a location that I could never possibly predict. The above are the default locations; but a profile can be placed anywhere. So if the above doesn't find it, then try step 4 below. There's one other way to find your user profile. I can't remember if this works in NT 4 or not but it -does- work in 2000 and XP. Right click on the start menu (not left click like you normally do) and choose "Explore" (NOT, explore all users). Windows explorer will launch IN your user profile, with the "start menu" folder highlited. If you look up above the start menu folder, you should see the "Application Data" folder (and above the Application Data folder you should find the username folder that you are working under) Under customization, you will find the ironcad.tbc file: Delete it, then launch IronCAD and see if the problem goes away.
  8. Floris we didn't intentionally code a fix for your very specific dongle switching situation; so we don't know if the admin fix is going to help you or not. Now that the patch has released, I am closing this topic. Please start new topics for all questions regarding PU1.
  9. We do not yet have any experience in-house with the PCI-E cards.
  10. There is no way to transfer your settings.
  11. Mike, can you tell me where you are changing the system font that is being used on the forum buttons? (I can't seem to find where that is changed) Kelly, is it stretchy enough for you now? The "glassy" appearance from the old graphics are gone now. Did anyone notice the difference? Carlo, the sphere/cylinder/bolt-circle/etc is a new "rank" system that upgrades as your post count increases. The ranking has no impact on anything really, it's just a little fun feature. While subtle, there were many changes made to the discussion forum skin recently. So please let me know what you think.
  12. Beat, the /3GB limit isn't logical and is very difficult to fully explain. Setting that switch helps many things even if you only have a gig of ram. The more I see that switch help, the more I'm beginning to realize that it might end up being recommended that all IC users use the /3GB switch. The task manager does not show what the 3GB switch affects, so don't rely on it for an accurate gauge of memory usage. That switch affects "allocated memory" (task manager shows "used memory") which is a totally different game inside of the Microsoft Operating System. Definitly try the 3GB switch with the second boot string like Mike recommended. Sometimes the switch doesn't work and if you don't use the second string then your system could be rendered useless by the switch. In situations where the system can not handle the /3GB switch; SP2 for XP seems to be fixing those problems. The second string will allow you to revert back to the default setting if the 3GB switch doesn't work for you. And as you found with the Rhino Export: The default kernel in IronCAD can make a big difference with your import. Try changing your default kernel and then reimport to see if that changes anything. Oh and to exonerate Cary; he's copy/pasting from a document that I wrote about the 3GB switch so not recommeding the second line is my mistake. I wrote it before your day of fun and I knew that it could cause problems Mike. I need to update that doc...
  13. Here's a list for you that details what we are expecting to release in Product Update 1 for IronCAD and Inovate 7.0 in about 2 weeks. The PU1 update will be available for download to our technical support subscribers and partners only. --Chris New Enhancements Added for IRONCAD\INOVATE 7.0 Product Update 1 Allow Reorder Global Option: Under Tools pull-down menu, select "Options" and then the "Part" tab on the following pop-up dialog. Improved Sheet Metal Unfold Times - Improvements have been made in the Sheet Metal unfold times. Key Quality Issues Resolved in IRONCAD/INOVATE 7.0 Product Update 1 SCENE Failure to Load/Open and Drawing View Data Lost Issue: Issues related to lost data on save in both the scene and the drawing due to Multi-Parent Copy (Ctrl-C) operations have been addressed. Multi-Part Parent copy refers to copying parts in different assemblies or copying dimensions in different views for example. The Multi-Parent Copy command has been disabled to avoid the potential data loss issue. Dimension Migration Issues Resulting in Lost Dimensions: Certain dimension may fail to solve or migrate or from older versions of IronCAD to IronCAD 7.0. The migration could be opening files or drag and drop for catalogs. Examples: Pattern Dimension, Dimensions to Midpoints of Edges, Reference Dimensions, etc. Horizontal and Vertical 3D SmartDimension Solve and Integrity Issues: Horizontal and Vertical 3D SmartDimension failed to maintain relationships during Save/Load and could solve incorrectly. This issue has been addressed in Product Update 1. Position Dimension Displaying and Solving Incorrectly: Issues related to Shapes positioning incorrectly when modifying the Position Dimensions have been addressed. Position dimension will always reference the Parent Shapes coordinate system when displaying/modifying the dimensions. Angular SmartDimension Not Transferring to Drawing: Angular SmartDimensions failing to transfer to the drawing on ACIS models has been resolved. Conical Sheet Metal with Cut-Operations Unfold Incorrectly: Conical Sheet Metal with Cut-Operations would fail to unfold incorrectly in certain cases where the Cut-Operation would cut through the top/bottom edge of the conic. This issue has been resolved. Sheet Metal Punches do not Appear in Unfold: Issues where sheet metal punches do not display in the unfolded part have been addressed. IronPro Catalog Issues with UNI Settings: Error messages with the IronPro Catalog Tools stating "Path not found" have been addressed. ProActive BOM Not Maintaining Property Settings: ProActive BOM not maintaining information added to each part (Part Number, Description, Custom Properties, etc.) has been addressed. Cross-Section Properties Not Displaying in 2D Sketch: Issue related to the "Cross-Section Properties" of a 2D Sketch not displaying when accessed has been resolved. 3Dconnexion Motion Controller Zoom Display Issue (SpaceBall, etc): Issue related to the IronCAD Scene jumping or parts inverting on zoom with the 3Dconnexion Motion Controllers has been addressed (SpaceBall, etc.). Allow Reorder Causing Shell Shape to Reorder Incorrectly: Certain reported modeling changes would cause the Shell Intellishape to reorder incorrectly resulting in a failed shell. These reported issues have been resolved. TriBall Snap Rotation at 180° Broken: Issues where the TriBall Snap (Ctrl) Rotation not snapping to 180° have been addressed. Variable Radius Blends Change Parametric Directions on ACIS Models: Certain ACIS models would cause the variable radius blends to change directions based on the parametric direction along the edge. This issue has been resolved to maintain the selected locations for the values. Suppressed Parts Not Collapsing Structure in Scene Browser: Issues related to Suppressed Parts displaying Intellishape information in the Scene Browser have been resolved. Catalogs Fail to Load: Certain catalogs would fail to open due to corrupted shapes in the catalog. Changes have been made to allow the load of the catalog, however the shape in the catalog will fail (not drop into a scene or edit). Assembly Feature Custom Hole Not Showing Thread in All Parts: Custom Hole Assembly Features now display the thread texture on all parts defined in the Assembly Feature Scope. Boolean Parts Causing Unnecessary Regenerations: Issues where regenerations would occur on parts used in Boolean operations have been addressed. INOVATE Import of DXF/DWG Not Working: Issues related to INOVATE not importing DXF/DWG has been addressed. DRAWING Drawing Views Shift Position in Draft and Precise Modes: Issues related to views moving position when switching between Draft and Precise view quality have been addressed. Note: Drawing views may change location on first update in IronCAD 7.0 Product Update 1. This is due to a change in the drawing border definition (Pre-Product Update 1 view borders where dependent on the 3D Bounding Box of the 3D Data. Product Update 1 view borders are based on the projected geometry bounding box). This will mainly affect Isometric Views. This reposition will only happen once on the first update in Product Update 1 (after repositioning the view, it will not move on any additional updates). Drawing Dependent View Update Incorrectly After Modification in Standard View Creation Dialog: Dependent Views (Section, Detail, etc.) would change or lose original definition if a modification to the Standard Views Creation dialog was performed. This issue has been addressed. Section Views Update Losing Centerline and Dimension References: Migration issues caused section view information (such as centerlines, annotations, dimensions) to be disassociated or lost. This issue has been addressed. Vertical Isometric Section Views Displayed Upside Down: Isometric Vertical Section views will now display the correct orientation of the geometry on creation. Exporting DWG/DXF Continuously Locks Application: Issues reported where IronCAD would Lock-up when a continual process of exporting drawings to DXF/DWG have been resolved. 2D Catalogs Creating Duplicate Styles and Layers: 2D Catalogs Items have addressed the issue where Styles and Layer information was duplicated on drag&drop into sheets. Transferred Thread Dimensions will not Allow Arrow Placement: Transferred Thread Dimensions Arrows can now be repositioned by selecting and dragging the arrow. Text with Leader Knee Direction Down Incorrect: Issues related to the Text with Leader Knee displaying incorrectly when the knee position is set to down have been resolved. Text with Leader and Item Bubbles Not Displaying in DWG/DXF: Text with Leaders and Item Bubbles would not display correctly in DWG/DXF files due to the color setting not referring to the background color have been addressed. Text with Leaders Moving on Update: Issues related to Text with Leaders moving on update of views have been addressed. Surface Finish Symbol Moves to Original Placement on Update: Issues related to Surface Finish Symbols snapping back to the original placement on update have been addressed to maintain the defined location. Multiple Section Lines on Isometric Views Cause Lock-up: Issues related to section lines on Isometric views causing infinite loops (lock-up) have been addressed. Text Linked to Property Information Causing Additional Save on Close: Issues where the drawing file would ask to save after a previous save when closing the file has been addressed. Text linked to property information was causing the additional save. Vertical Scroll Bar not Available in Drawing: Due to the 2D Catalogs, the vertical scroll bar is not accessible when the auto-hide catalogs option is enabled. New changes have been made to move the vertical scroll bar to the left side of the drawing environment. Pan Cameral Disables Active Command in Drawing: Issues related to the Pan Camera disabling the active command (i.e. Dimension Command) have been addressed.
  14. Yes, we now have layer locking in V7 and the template geometry is on the locked "Template" layer. Edit/Style and Layers/Layers -> Template -> Locked
  15. Lol, Yes, I suppose we have underestimated you. The community IS running on a case sensitive server now BTW. Lower case should be used. I prefer to use this link so that I always see new posts: http://www.ironcad.com/support/community/i...rch&CODE=getnew
  16. Hey Umut will you please retry those attachments or email them to me at support@ironcad.com ?
  17. looking good Carlo. Hey Beat, those features may work for you now.
  18. Hey Urban; I can't explain anything more than you have already done. It's nothing more than attaching the image to the post by using the [browse] and [Add this attachment...] buttons.
  19. AH our very first rank progession; congrats Tom lol. The next step is "I-Beam" at 1000 posts.
  20. ooh, I'll go for the chicago pizza
  21. hmm it won't let me attach a zip file for some reason try this ftp://ftp.ironcad.com/upload/sceneaaa.zip
  22. Thanks Rick and Ramsi. We can definitly work on the colors and fonts and such. I'll come up with a few concept skins for you to try and tell me the good/bad about each one. So Rick, you preferred the colors from the old board? I can try to create a skin that uses those colors first... Can you guys help me understand how one might modify the appearance of the board so that it didn't seem as cluttered? Perhaps if, instead of graphical buttons, I just used hyperlinks for the reply, post, edit, etc stuff?
  23. Tom the attachment option doesn't appear in the "Fast Reply" box. If you click on the "AddReply" button then you should see it.
