  1. Is IronCAD running when you're trying to rename/delete the files? I don't know if it's still the case but I remember having closed a drawing in IronCAD but not being able to rename/delete/save over it until I closed IronCAD. I also kinda remember checking Task Manager to see if the ironcad.exe process was gone.
  2. For future forum searchers and other observers, IronKevin says that upgrading to the next version of IC will let us start over with all of our licenses.
  3. Well now I've gone and done it. I've been checking out an IronCAD license to work at home on occasion, using the License Check-out and Remote Commuter Tools. It seems I got so comfortable with the process I got careless and left the default 180 day check-out duration and checked out a license! Now we are short a floating license and the instructions say: "Note that a remote commuter authorization cannot be checked back into the license server, but will simply expire on the remote computer after the number of days specified in the License Check-out Tool." Am I truly officially screwed? I can't believe you can't get a remote license back - what if someone quits/dies/is fired/moves to France? The company could simply be out of luck for potentially 6 months? Note to any license server software developers out there: make the default license check-out duration ONE DAY or allow remote authorization to be checked back in. We have not installed v9 yet. Will having a license checked out cause problems for the upgrade? Or will the upgrade allow us to wipe the slate clean and get the checked-out license back? I realize the license server software is not developed by IronCAD, but any help is appreciated.
  4. I went with the embedded object route instead of the filled box method. After sizing and positioning the logo onto the template, I go to the Interaction tab under Embedded Object Properties and select Fixed Position. Then I go to the Sizebox tab and uncheck all the boxes under Display and uncheck the Permit Resize box.

  6. It is dead. It was meant to be a collection of user submitted models, tips, tricks, etc. but there were very few submissions. In the end I couldn't justify paying for web server space so I shut it down.
  7. Is there a way to confirm the number of licenses installed on the license server and how many are currently available? It seems like we have less IronCAD licenses than our IS department says we have or the server is flaky sometimes.
  8. Technically this whole forum is a list of complaints. How many posts did you find that said "Hey guys, just checking in, everything works perfectly the way I would have programmed it to work."
  9. Training was suggested because Mr. Excitable has ranted in the past about things that do work or features that are present. I was going to suggest the same thing a few posts ago. IC dudes, where's our EASY button?
  10. If I remember correctly, updating the views on a print of a large assembly takes forever in precise mode. And in large assemblies, the level of detail required is such that draft mode usually looks fine.

  12. I don't know if this belongs under bug report or enhancement request or general discussion. Is there a good reason I can move dimension text on a drawing with a right click? Often when I intend to right-click a dimension to access the pop-up menu to get to properties I end up moving the text instead. Sometimes over and over. Like trying to pick up a bar of soap.
  13. A couple things here... The amount of requests on this board is very large. IronCAD, like any other company, has finite manpower, so requests must be prioritized. I would say they are prioritized based on whether they are bug-fixes and what segment of the community would benefit most by the change. Maybe your request does not benefit the top target segment of the community. I myself do not have much use for surfaces, 3d curves, or sheetmetal. That being said, most if not all the changes made to IronCAD have come from this discussion board. The software has gone through a lot of changes and they've been mainly based on direct customer requests, not marketing or vague questionaires. What other software is like that? If you think pro-e or solidworks or whatever will yield a more satisfactory experience, goodbye, God bless, and see ya when you come back.
  14. If you're looking for general pipe dimensions, McMaster-Carr has some information and has many 3D models of fittings. I've attached page 3 of their catalog (also available online). Near the bottom of the page are the pipe dimensions. McMasterP0003.pdf
  15. I would highly value being able to change the orientation of all the views after they are placed by changing the orientation of the front view Frequently I am creating a drawing and cannot tell which side of the part I am looking at during front view selection (is this the side of the plate with the countersinks or not?). If I guess incorrectly, I have to erase the views and guess again. An alternate solution to this would be to have better clarity when selecting the front view orientation, perhaps being able to select a translucent view, a 2d preview, allowing zooming and panning, or just draw the darn part edges in the Current Front View Direction rendering. Even if selecting the front view was clearer, I would still have an occasional need to change the orientation of the views when the part is revised. So, "No," I don't use the current functionality, and, "Yes, please," for the enhancement.
