    PU1

When is PU1 for XP coming out? I thought it was last week ? Cheers, Jason

    Vista

I have installed the 32 bit test version on Vista Home Premium on my laptop (2GB Ram) and so far no problems. Still testing some larger files though. Vista uses about 700MB of RAM to run Vista ! Cheers, Jason
  3. Does anyone know how this works? I have a single standalone license. Will it work with this ? I want to use my laptop on the way home from work. (I use a desktop at work) Thanks, Jason
  4. I would agree that a global option because we would like the part numbers kept. Will this be included in HF4 ? It is amazing how much gets discussed when you are away for a 3 day weekend !!! Thanks for you discussion boys. Sounds like i'm no the only one that has annoying little issues with V10. Cheers, Jason
  5. I have an issue with Ironcad losing part numbers & descriptions. If I copy/link a part using the triball and then unlink the second part, the part number and description are erased and are blank. This is very annoying when you only want to change a digit in the part number and you have to retype it all in again. Is anyone else frustrated with this ?? If you have a linked assembly inside an assembly, when the top level assembly is unlinked, then the lower level assembly was then by default set back to expand when originally set to treat as part.. Also if you unlink an assembly, then all the parts lose the part number and description. This is all happening with HF3. Cheers, Jason
  6. Jonas, We export as an ACIS file for our press brake software to read in to create sheetmetal bend programs and sheetmetal profiles. It is only to visually to check if the part looks the same way that it is meant to. When you mirror upper level assemblies, then the bottom level sheetmetal parts look like they are mirrored but when you export, the parts is the wrong hand. Thanks jirvin
  7. I am having trouble in V10 opening ACIS files from Windows Explorer. In V9, I could double click on a ACIS file (*.sat) in windows explorer and it would open a blank scene with the part opened. V10 sates an error "failed with error 32 - the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". Is there a way around it or is it a bug with V10 ? Thanks.
  8. kevin I have just sent a ironcad scene file to support@ironcad with some explanation. Jason
  9. We use the triball to copy objects. Don't use Edit Copy/Paste. Jason
  10. I have also found if you copy a sub assembly then the copy doesn't show on the screen but the anchors show up using Advanced OpenGL/Direct3D. (If you use only Open GL, then they show up.) If you suppress the copy and unsupress it, it highlights the sub assembly in the original position. If you link the sub assembly then unlink it, this works OK. (Then the copy is shown on the screen.) It has definitely got to do with the rendering engine. Jason
  11. I have had it occur again. I had two sub assemblies that were linked called assy 1 and assy2. I unlinked one of these. (assy 2). Then I copied assy 1 the other one in a different direction (assy3). I got not enough memory message and clicked on abort and got a run time error. When I opened the file back up, a sheet metal part on the unlinked assy2 was missing. I was using the Advanced OpenGL/Direct3D rendering option. As soon as you change this back to openGL the sheetmetal part appears. There is a noticeable difference between the two rendering engines. The Advanced one lets the parts rotate faster. The file is too big to send you (it was approximately 28 MB). Cheers, Jason
  12. I am having some trouble with parts staying in the scene in V10. The view shows extra parts (same as has been drawn - not random parts) but they are not in the assembly tree. One instance had the parts mirrored at 180 degrees to their actual position. The only way to get rid of them was to shut down the file and re-open. The file had saved them in their correct position. These are mainly version 9 files and they are also linked into a main scene. We have installed the Hot fix Is anyone else noticing this ? Thanks, Jason
  13. Kevin, I am emailing the file now 9.5 MB and the 3D viewer file as well. Myriad 3d Viewer would even open the file. I tried to respond yesterday but the website was down. Jason
  14. There are no external linked files. It seems that it only picks up shapes created in earlier version the ironcad 9.0.
  15. We are currently using Ironcad V9.0 and wish to view the 3D scenes in our assembly shed. We have been using the Ironcad 3D Scene viewer to do this but not all of the scene is showing in the viewer. (See attachment.) I downloaded the Myriad3d reader and had the same trouble. Can anybody explain this ? Thanks, JasonDoc1.doc
  16. Can the new V10 beta work with Vista ?
  17. I am using a Spaceball 5000 device and am having a few problems. Occasionally when I move the spaceball, it locks up the computer and the only option is to use the reset switch on the computer. I though it was an old version of the spaceball driver but have now updated to a driver latest driver V3.2.2 (30 April 07) and I am still having problems. Is this a spaceball problem or an Ironcad problem. This problem has happened more since I installed Product Update 1 Hotfix 1. It was less of a problem before the hotfix and I can't remember the original V9 having problems at all. Is anyone having similar problems ?? Thanks, Jason
  18. We have been having trouble with deleting and renaming .icd files in Windows explorer. We run Linux Server using Samba to store the files and Windows XP on our desktops. I have noticed this happening more since the upgrade to PU1. Windows thinks that the file is in use when it is not. It only affects .icd files. (.ics files work OK) Has anyone else came across this problem ? Another person here has had this problem for years but not all the time. Thanks, Jason
  19. In a drawing, does anyone know how to make a use the sheet name as a variable on a drawing. eg. Sheet1,Sheet2,Sheet3 is automatically shown in the title panel of the drawing. If the name of the sheet changes, the drawing will update with the new name. Thanks, Jason
  20. Has anyone else had trouble with using top level BOMS since PU1 ? If I open an existing drawing and try to update a page with a top level BOM, Ironcad crashes. I can update all the views on that sheet but the error happens when I update the BOM. Thanks, Jason
  21. Is there any variable that can be put on a drawing that shows the full path (including directories) of the filename. This would be handy when trying to locate files. Thanks Jason
  22. I am having trouble with the incorrect time printed on the drawings. Since the install of V9.0, I am having this trouble. I am in the Timezone GMT+10 Last saved Date 31/10/2006 9:31 pm Actual Time 1/11/2006 8:31 am Has anyone has this trouble as well? Thanks, Jason
  23. I am having a problem with exporting ACIS V6.0 (.SAT) files. See the attached file. I have a sheetmetal part that is in an assembly. This part was created by another user and I don't know how it was created, mirrored, moved, etc. That problem I have is that when I export the part, the ACIS file is mirrored compared to what I see on the screen. I have then copied the part using Copy & Paste (the second part in the scene) and exported that and it is OK. Can anybody shed some light on this ? Thanks, Jason Test_Mirror_Rail.ics
  24. Cary, See file attached. The file was created in a scene. I then copied the file using Edit / Copy and opened a new scene and pasted it in there. As you will see in the file, you cannot snap to anything until you go to Shape / Regenerate fromn the menu. I also have the the following setting . Option Menu / Parts Tab When edit parts -> Regenerate the part automatically. If I am in a scene and copy an assembly, I also have to regenerate it before I can snap to it. I have also found that if the assembly needs regenerating when in a drawing, then it makes the drawing geomtery vanish until the scene is regenerated. I have installed the hotfix. See how you go ! Thanks, Jason 13_0102_2916_Carton_Line_Legs.ics
  25. Hello All, I am having issues with part regeneration in V9.0. We only installed it two weeks ago and I am finding the following errors. Copy parts from existing scene -> It won't let you snap to the parts until you have regenerated them in the new scene. Open up an existing scene and a drawing (that I had worked on the day before) and all the dimensions in the drawing were unattached until I regenerated the scene. Is this a problem with Ironcad or have I got a setting turned off ? Thanks. Jason
