  1. Did we get somewhere with the Mike and Cary? This is a global (Skyline) issue and a streamlined process would be amazing for how I use the tools.
  2. Im working on a project where I need some recessed lighting behind a shape to create a glow on the shape its in front of. I have tried adding emmision to the back side of top object, but just cant seem to get the effect i am looking for. I would like to create an object that could act as a sort of "rope light" or "neon' that I could just drop into scenes for this purpose. I want to use it as under cabinet lighting, behind wall mounted monitors and floor lit cabinets. I used to use point lights with ray traced shadows to achieve this but its not consistant across spans. Any ideas? Thank you.
  3. Thank you, I will check the high res/low res issue on the hdri and turn off GI and see how it works. I had actually used the removal by alpha channel, but it really thrashed my edge details so I was hoping there was another option. I am trying to yield a 250 dpi image that is almost fills 8.5 x 11, can you recommend a size setting for this please. Thanks Cary, Steve
  4. I am trying to get the advanced rendering system down and am having some issues. I have downloaded some great hdri images for 3d background and have been using global illumination so far. I have been doing screensized renderings at a decent speed but I have 2 issues. - I can not get a rendering bigger then the "screen size" to come out without some strange artifacting in it, like tiny red dots. - trying to generate a true alpha mask as it was done in Legacy Rendering. i have selected remove background options and selected .tiff as output but it just gives me the black background. This is my first real swing at using the advanced rendering since the (recently deceased) Legacy was plenty for what i do so bare with me. I am trying to find that balance between great renderings and realistic rendering times of complex drawings. Thank you in advance for any feedback. Steve
  5. Where can i get the 3D environment? Maybe we can run a test on the crazy file I sent you with environmental lighting and see how it renders. The shocks both look great, but I prefer the higher contrast of the one on the left.
  6. WOW!! I figured it out! Its a dual monitor/catalog browser issue! Ill post in a new thread! I am
  7. Here is the latest design that was produced. What are you working on? Concur_20x50_NBTA09_FINAL_email.pdf
  8. Looks good. That file was definitely one that gave me issues and right about when the real problem began. I will start downloading it this afternoon and give it a run. If it fixes the issue I will be dancing in the streets, lol. Thanks I'll keep track of the issues and when the happen.
  9. Well then Ill be downloading it. Just for the record, I am not holding IC completely responsible for my issues. I am ordering some different ram and doing some memtest runs on what I have now. Vista itself seems to be just buggy. I am going to put another boot of Win7 RC on this box when things slow down a bit, then ill test the beta on that as well. Thanks guys
  10. Another upgrade to fix? Timing on this? I know that you know that I am in a network of users that require we use the same version so we can all access the file right? If I upgrade to Beta, I am on an island as far as working with the other XXX Skyline offices is concerned. Testing is one thing, but I need this to work for production work on my main machine and corp usually will not upgrade until some of the bugs are worked out. I am at a cross roads here, upgrade to Win7 or go back to XP. I know maybe I can move another XP box onto my desk for when I need to create a CAD. That way I dont have to walk all the way down the hall and ask someone else if I can use their box for 5 minutes to save a .icd as a PDF. Sweetness
  11. If I even attempt to put a perspective, shaded image into a CAD it crashed halfway through creating it. I get error : Operation 57607 I have attached a few files for your review. I will now head over to my xp box to finish my job... IronCAD_error_071509.pdf IronCAD_error_CODE_071509.pdf
  12. Major issues. - Rendering constantly crashes at about 30% - Export image crashes at about 30% - Drawing files not showing parts of drawings - Drawings crashing on pdf export if ANY perspective views I have tested my ram, proc and cant seem to figure it out so I have to render my files on on our last XP box. Im going to try Win7, maybe it will help.
  13. Issue was never resolved. Strangely enough i was able to render it on a 32bit system after completely rebuilding it. We will have to talk this week. Thank you Kevin for your help Friday. Here is what I ended up with. Nexon_20x50_V1_Pres_May09__lowres_.pdf
  14. Hi Guys, So that fix worked great until today. I am working on a very large file with lots of skins in it. I am getting the 50227 Error every time I try to render. I am flying out tomorrow evening to Los Angeles to present the 100k design that needs to be beautifly rendered for the big meeting. This is not good. Please let me know if you have any advice. Is there a cap with skins? This file has tons the actual file is 147MB's.
  15. Am I placing this in a folder or /run it? Thanks guys. And Cary, its any folder. *** replaced and fixed, Thank you!! (after only 90 right clicks to take admin control/ownership, lol Remember the old days when I REALLY wanted a vista version of IC, well I take it back ) Thanks guys
  16. I was successful in getting everything to work Monday worked great yesterday but now today I am getting the following error when i try to render at 24% every time. I am using the legacy engine and and advanced/open GL rendering settings. *** ***Exception Report Number[buildNumber:8955] 1 *** ****Exception String: Exception caught while processing operation, Operation 50227 Tried cleaning all temp stuff out, trying every setting available? no avail. Any ideas?
  17. problem solved. I was under the impression the vista64 download was a patch for the disk i installed so i basically piggybacked a 64bit install on top of a 32bit install. Thank you, up and running great.
  18. Just upgraded to vista64 and have been messing with IronCAD all day. I can not get IronCAD to run even as an administrator. It shows up in the task mgr with a *32 next to it which I imagine is not a good thing. I installed it from the IC11 disk that came in the mail and patched with PU1. Anyone have some insight on this? I am new to this Vista experience and can see why people hate it. Thank you Note: The IC11 program installed in the x86 Program Files Directory but is running as *32. Is this my problem. Also saw a note about running as DX9.0c(nov08) Do I need to roll back this DX10 install to DX9?

Very excited!! Tons of RAM and Vista on the way to finally use the potential of these new boxes I built
  21. Hi guys, I tried many ways to re-create it on all of our workstations with no avail. I'm scared for it to rear its ugly head again If it does I will let you know. Tks.
  22. Well I will check the version, This is fresh box I just built so maybe I missed a hotfix. Im using 10.0 PU1 - Build 8557 Is this the latest?
