tlehnhaeuser
Does anyone have or know how to get a real clear plastic finish? I would ultimately like to have the face edges a slighty bluish tint of the rest of the part is clear. Any feedback is welcomed. thanks T
IronKevin
The best I know of is the Plastic Catalog that loads with the Rendering Catalog set. Then set, under Part Properties, Rendering to Render both sides. After that, in SmartPaint, Transparency, you can play with the "Modify Transparency toward part edges" option. Cary OConnor
Background and lights will be a big factor as well. Cary
tlehnhaeuser
Ok thanks Guys. I tried all that but really can get it nailed. I thought maybe there was a way to use the Gradient Shader to have the gradient work at edges?
Cary OConnor
You could use the shader in the transparency channel to get some effects like that. I have not tried it much however. Do you have an example of the plastic you are after? Cary
tlehnhaeuser
Cary, Below is not an exact image but close. Basically trying to render clear plastic then as you get to corners, edges, blends, the color will turn to darker and darker blue wih a gentle fade towards and away from the edge. Make sense? tom
Cary OConnor
You can take a look at the attached scene. I'm sure it can be tweaked alot to get better results. Also, adjust the gamma on the final output to help set the darker areas. Cary Scene2.ics

tlehnhaeuser
I tried the Gadient shader as a Color and getting closer. I'll keep playing T Glass.ics

Cary OConnor
I used the fresnel shader in transparency and set the IOR to 1 or just above. Also used a Ashikhmin in the Diffuse and Specular. Transparency was like 85. Cary
