We have people that are getting confused (not used to reading prints) that one item can have a different number on config bom and then cant comprehend that it is the same part but different number on the master. I do know that some companies have developed a special tool to do this for the same specific reason. I'm not sure how they did it or if they have upgraded it to work on 2009 (.Net). Maybe they would be interested in working out some sort of agreement to work on it jointly with you. If you are interested, I can try to find the contacts.
