You HAVE to have 5.2 installed for this patch to work. You do not need SP1, but it's ok to have SP1, when installing SP2.

One thing ppl ask me often also is will this patch work with a previous version of IronCAD. The answer is no. This is not an upgrade, it merely fixes an existing 5.2 installation.

You do not need to remove IronCAD 5.2. Simply download the 5.2 Service Patch 2 to your machine and then double-click the exe to begin the install. Make sure that you have the original install media (InnovationSuite CD or the location you installed from like a network share). The install will ask for this media in order to install. So if you installed IronCAD from a CD, make sure that the CD is in your CD drive. Likewise, if you installed from a network share location, make sure that you still have access to that location.

I went from 4.2SP2 to 5.2SP2 with a new box, new graphics card and Win 2000, and had a couple of glitches. First of all I had a "SEVERE-A running instance of MSOFFICE.EXE has been detected...."; fix is go into task manager-processes select MSOFFICE.EXE, then click end process. Second is when installing patches you need the 5.2 CD in the box (thanks Cary), that was a new one on me. Hope this helps somebody.
