I presently run Iron CAD on a Compaq with a Celeron 600 and 512MB PC 100 Ram. With large files I can easily grind it to a near stand still.

I am ordering a Dell Percision Workstation 530. Xeon 1.5GH, 512MB PC800 ECC RD Ram, 3dLAbs Wildcat II 5110 VGA/DVI, and an Ultra 160/M SCSI (10,000 RPM) H-D.

Will this keep me moving? Do I need more RAM?

IronCAD will definitly take advantage of all available ram. If you're working with 100+ meg scene files then even 2 gigs of ram wouldn't be outrageous.

I would suggest going with what you have and just keep an eye on your ram usage and upgrade in the future if needed. 512 is a good starting point.

Make sure you have a memory slot configuration (i.e. empty slots) that would allow cost effective and convenient RAM upgrade. No sense having to discard RAM to make room for larger SIMMS.
