mgajewski
I wonder if anyone knows how to quickly (and without effort model a RANDOMLY multifaceted object - similar to the crystal in the attached picture. Any tips would be appreciated (including those for how to model a regularly faceted object, and converting a smooth model to a real (and not just appearance-wise) faceted model. Thanks
B. Ludin
Random facetting could be difficult. But a quick way to get a facetted shape is the following switch on facet shading - set the scene rendering to facet shading (that's just to see what you're doing) - create some kind of rounded shape using whatever tools you like - adjust the rendering surface smoothness of the part until you get the display faceting you like - export part as STL (this will use the same surface smoothness setting) - re-import the part with smoothing switched off - voila! mgajewski
That's a terrific and really powerful tip. It worked like a charm. Thanks, Beat!
