BOM question

I'm working on my first 'project', and I have to go back and fill in the part descriptions, etcetera, for the BOM. Unfortunately, all similar fasteners are individually populating the BOM. When I try to manually 'force' them into one row by changing the quantity, and erasing all of the extra parts, they all reappear when I log back onto my computer. How do I get this to correctly populate the BOM, so as to avoid multiples of the same part from clogging the BOM?? TIA

Two Options:

1) You do not have the "part Number" field populated. The default option for BOM's to determine quantities is by the part numbers. If you populate that feild, you will get your desired result

2) Change the option in the BOM properties to "All Columns". (I have not used this option myself but think that may give you what you are looking for)

My preference has always been option 1.
