  1. I have been having lots of little issues since updating to the latest release. I have installed the patch as well.

Most of the issues are in CAXADraft with projected views.

    Some examples:

    - the 'ENLARGE' function works, but moving the enlarged view is very difficult and the anchor point is no where near the actual view.

    - I am unable to update the projected Views when the 3D model has been changed. re-inserting the view does not update the view either, I have to re-start the program every time.

    - Everything is a lot slower than before, particularly with projected views.

    - CAXA keeps freezing, I have to shut down the program every time.

Also, any larger assemblies in IronCAD are slower, they were always a little slow but now they are slower. This is in regards to making any changes to parts.

sometimes even changing a model with only one part is really slow.

Some of this I think is the new release, it is possible the change in speed is just my computer.

    any help is appreciated smile.gif

  2. I have updated to the 2019 release and am having issues saving a model after inserting a view into CAXA through the 3D Interface.

Once the drawing has been inserted, I am unable to save any changes made to the original model and the following message pops up:

Error: cannot save to the file:

    (file path)

    Possible reasons: U(HRESULT=0X80004005)

or cannot access the file, disk errors, etc.

Do you want to save it to the following temporary file?

    C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp\(file name)

Saving to the temporary file does not work either and I have to save the file to a different name and re-insert the drawing into CAXA every time I make any change to the model.

Could this be an issue with my computer or is this an IronCAD issue?

Thanks for any help you can give. smile.gif

  3. 1. Copy the XML file(s) from C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\IronCAD\IRONCAD\20.0\Customization

    to

    C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\IronCAD\IRONCAD\21.0\Customization

    2. Edit the XML file.

    3. Search and replace IRONCAD20 with IRONCAD21 (should be in two places).

    4. Save the XML and start IronCAD.

Could you please provide a screenshot for an example (if possible) to help me understand exactly what I'm meant to do and how I'm meant to edit the XML file.

    thanks. smile.gif

  4. Migrating user settings would be very helpful.

We do not download/update our own programs, we have IT who come in and do this for us.

Having migration or some form of automatic set up would be very beneficial in this case as the IT guys tend to do the bare minimum and I have to come in later and set everything up correctly and get them back to uninstall the previous version. So trying to get them to do this would be a nightmare.

Thanks for your tips though, they will be very helpful this time round. smile.gif

  5. Select the assembly, turn on the TriBall, then right click one of the small inside handles that is perpendicular to the plane you want to mirror about and choose the mirror option.

Thank you so much! That helped a lot.

    (sorry I didn't reply sooner)

  6. Hi Guys,

I was wondering if there was any way to change the direction of a dimension when it does not fit between the arrows as shown in the attached example. Basically put the writing to the right of the leader instead of the left and vise versa when the dimension is at the top.

Also, is there a way to flip the direction of the arrows? So instead of being inside the dimension, flip them so they are on the outside of the dimension.

    thanks smile.gif

  7. Is it possible to mirror an assembly?

I have a large assembly that mirrors itself and I would like to mirror one half of the assembly rather than having to build the whole mirror from scratch.

I have tried to use the mirror feature command in the feature tab but that only mirrors parts within themselves.

  8. generating from within IronCAD,

I figured out the lines, if I have my lines at 0 thickness I don't lose and quality when zooming in. this means I can create detailed drawings.

The main issue is text. I was using Ariel font but it doesn't work very well.

I have attached two pictures to show a comparison between the program we used to use and IronCAD, both are Ariel text. It is worse when printed.

I can't attach a pdf as this is work related.

I have changed to another font that works a lot better but it is really weird to me that Ariel didn't work as I've never had an issue with it in other programs.

  9. I'm finding that my PDF's don't come out as nice as I would prefer.

I have worked out what thickness to use for the drawing itself but my text come out untidy with certain letters appearing thicker than others despite them being set to the same thickness, as well as being a lot thicker than I would like.

The preview looks good but is not how it turns out after printing.

    Any suggestions?

  10. Hi,

I would like to set up IronCad such that, if I click on a document to open it from the file location while the IronCad program is running, it opens another tab in the already running window.

Instead what happens is it launches a new window (and takes ages to open as a result).

  11. Hi Guys,

I'm wanting to set the default drawing template to one I have created for my company but I can't figure out how, and what I've tried doesn't work.

what I've tried to do is add my template to the pre-defined templates but I am unable to.

I think I'm goin about it the wrong way.

  12. hi Cary,

sorry I've taken so long to reply, work has been busy.

I have a simple example below, this end is on both ends and what I am wanting to do is lengthen the pole in the middle without scaling the length of the ends.

is this possible using the sizebox?

I have more complex parts than this that I want to do the same thing with and it would be much easier and quicker if I can insert them in my assemblies then easily adjust the length.

  13. Hi guys,

I would like to be able to create a part where the length of for example the handle of the part can be resized using a the size box without changing the length of the rest of the part.

I thought constraints would be the best option but I can't figure out how to use this function.

Any help would be great. smile.gif
