1. After installing the latest update, I have lost the ability to show hidden lines in the shaded mode.

Actually they have shown up a few times, but I can't figure out the when this happens.

They do show up in wireframe mode.

  2. Kevin & Jonas,

    Thanks for the info.

I had split another assembly out of the original troublesome file and it is having the same issue.

I will try your trick and see if that works.

Fortunately I had no external links in the files.

  3. What would cause a 92Mb .ics file to take over an hour to open?

And is very sluggish once it opens.

I had a file that started acting sluggish, not terrible but noticeable.

It was a little over 300 Mb, certainly not the largest file I have had.

I cleaned a bunch of junk out of the file and split it up into 2 files (as there were two major assemblies in the file).

Each ended up being around 100Mb, but were still slow to open.

I thought my old RAID server might be going bad so I moved the files to my computer's hard drive with no improvement.

I updated all of the parts in one of the files and tried it again, no change.

The file does not appear to be taxing the CPU, only about 35%.

I tried opening a similar sized file and it took less than 15 sec to open.

This file had quite a bit of imported data from digital sculps that had been converted to nurbs solids compared to the slow file which was mostly IC generated.

  4. In the original version of 2024 and the latest update, using a previously created 3D Scene template locks up the program. I have opened the old file (last updated in 2023 version) in 2024 and did an update, then saved it as a template file. When I start a new scene and select that template, the program hangs and the template does not open. I have attached the offending file.

    Thanks for any suggestions,

    Troy

  5. We do not use Norton here so I'm not exactly sure how to advise you to proceed but i scanned the zip with our tool and found no threats.

Okay, I will see if I can figure it out.

I have seen it do that with some other files, but never with that kind of file from you guys.

  6. Here is the hotfix for this.

first, make sure you have 2019 PU1 installed,

Then unzip and copy the attached DLLs into C:\Program Files\IronCAD\2019\bin

    49565

My virus protection software (Norton's) is automatically detecting the dlls as threats and removing them.

Never seen this before on downloaded hot fixes.

I can't seem to disable this through settings.

Do I need to disable Norton's to be able to extract this?

  7. Hi Troy,

Is this in a particular file or using a particular operation? If you can send a file or video that might show this, it would help. I believe I have seen this happen after some command interactions in the past versions and we try to address those as they come up. Usually there is an update missing in the process.

Sorry for the delay in response.

I have had a hard time figuring out when/why this occurs.

It seems to show up during/after you have edited a 2D profile, but it is not an edge that is necessarily related to the profile you are editing.

Just an edge in the background, then after you finish, a different edge is highlighted.

  8. Another odd thing that has shown up since the update last week is that a few random edges will show a green highlight like you selected them.

You can get rid of them by recreating the display, but they soon reappear and you have to recreate display over and over.

  9. I think that I could get used to doing it that way. It isn't quite as intuitive as it was in previous versions (i.e. simply clicking the handle that is closest), but it would at least restore the functionality.

I agree with Mike, this is not intuitive for me either.

  10. Is anyone having trouble moving or rotating entities in a 2D sketch?

I am finding that if you try to move or rotate entities, you see the preview of the move, but it just reverts back to its original position when the command is finished.

These functions do work if you copy instead of move.

This issue showed up after the latest patch.

  11. Notes: Try holding shift before you drag and not after drag. That was tested and verified to be the correct case.

    Cary,

    Sure enough, that works.

Obviously in the past, the order did not matter and my muscle memory was having me do it in the order that I was used to.

Thanks, but I would like to put in an enhancement request to be able to do it in either order.

I know this must seem petty, but there have been a lot of strides to streamline the workflow by reducing button clicks and what not, but loss of basic functionality that you have been used to for 20 years seems like it would certainly be a backward step.

  12. Troy,

We have identified the issue. It is currently being worked on by R&D.

I have downloaded and installed the new patch.

The above issue is listed as addressed, but it does not seem to do (or not do) anything differently.

  13. I am putting a list of the top 10 most useful tools for design in IronCAD. I have my list, but interested in learning of everyone's list. I looking for the tools that you use on a daily basis. I know the TriBall is #1, but i'm sure everyone has their own.

I welcome your top 10 lists.

ps: feel free to email me if you prefer.

Okay, had to think about top 10.

    1) Intelligent booleans

    2) Triball

    3) Keyshot integration

    4) Thread

    5) Scale body

    6) Intellishape beveling / surface reshaping

    7) Fastener tool

    8) Helix tool

    9) Mate and align positioning tool

    10) Catalog drag and drop

Being able to boolean parts and maintain the intellishape features was a real game changer for me.

This increased my capabilities by a tremendous amount.

I am a bit partial to this as it was one of my enhancement requests.

I am still waiting for being able to edit these booleans in a separate window like you can for catalog items.

This would be helpful when features within it fail.

It would also be really cool if the boolean had some features that could be associated with it, like blending intersecting edges.

  15. Can you try Run as Administrator to start IronCAD? It may be that something is not registered on your machine.

    49375

    Cary,

    No effect running as administrator.

  16. Have you tried a changing your rendering option.  I have found that DirectX11 is the default and some computers have issues this this rendering option.

A good suggestion, but no change.

In V2018, I could not work in Open GL2 and had never had an issue with that in V2017 on the same computer, so I thought you might have a point.

Tried all different combinations of settings and no change.

The odd thing is that the snap works fine when you are editing a 2D profile or when you are dropping an intellishape on a part, just not when you are moving with the Triball.

    Maybe a Triball problem?

    Thanks,

    Troy

  17. LOL! same happened to me, I updated to SP1 and it works

    49371

Actually I already had SP1 installed, but found update 1.1.

Unfortunately this did not fix the problem.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

  18. Okay I feel dumb asking this question after using Iron Cad for 20 years.

    I finally just installed V2019.

I can't get the snap to work (SHIFT key ) in the 3D scence when moving an intellishape.

    Am I missing something?
