  1. Hello everyone. I have a customer that has a bema line and is asking for beams in the model to converted to .DSTV format for their machine. I know IronCAD doe snot support this but wanted to see if anyone has ever come across this and found a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I know what you are doing and why you are trying to do it.  First, let me say that there may be a way to do it, but I have never investigated because of the following.  I have a customer that I do a ton of handrails for (and this appears to be a tube for a sloped rail) and they laser cut all their rails.  My belief is the laser program compensates automatically for creating that neutral plane.  My suggestion would be to check with the company that is doing the laser cutting, but in every project I have ever done, I simply trim the tube so it mates to the pipe.  When all done, I send them IGES files of the pipe that is being cut.  In 4 years of doing this, I have never gotten a call that a piece did not fit correctly.  As mentioned, this is just my experience that a simple trim is all you need but checking with your laser company is your best bet.  But I am pretty sure that the simple trim is all you will have to do and the laser program will do the rest.

  3. You have to be careful though.  I tested and it looks like when you drop an out bend and use the mirror feature, it does not mirror as an out bend but drops on the edge as standard bend.  So you wind up with a wider part.  You could also try the add miter feature if the two legs are going to be the same length.

  4. Mike,

I understand being conservative with installing latest versions as anybody who has been in the industry for a while and used other software learned early on to wait.  I have to say though, as a re-seller and a user that IronCAD has very strong new releases.  Its not to say that there are never any issues that pop up, but the amazing thing about the IronCAD team is their responsiveness if an issue does appear.  Its a service that you will NOT find with any other software on the market.  Especially with major updates, they have a customer validation program that I, as well as several of my customers are part of that allows us to test IronCAD for several weeks in real world design before it is finally released.

I just wanted to throw that out there as my experience with staying updated as releases come out has been very positive.
