  1. Thanks Malcolm, very helpful. I've been using IronCAD so long that the notion of "bodies" is still foreign to me and will require much more effort for me to understand. My brain cells are not what they used to be :-)

I am assuming this is how all the other mainstream CAD applications have to do this since "Structured" mode basically mimics the same approach?

  2. Hi Lee,

Typically this is done using "Linked 2D Shapes". So if you draw a 2D shape of your desired profile geometry, you can then use that 2D shape to generate linked intellishapes across infinite parts. The trick is to make sure you select the Profile behavior to "Linked".

Maybe this old video will provide better understanding.

    Thank you all!

By the way: The Data came from Swiss goverment geometric System.

Funnyways the 0 Point is somewhere in the Atlantic.

So it was really far away. :-)

    Hi Carlo,

I hade sent you a new file as well as per Malcolms approach and it was very clean. I'll send you the video that I downloaded as well shortly.

Basically, it appears to me that since the 0,0 was way off of your geometry, when you zoom in on it in the scene, the geometry becomes graphically distorted. Not sure why that would be, but so be it, so moving the geometry closer to 0,0 ( doesn;t have to be perfect) it corrects the issue.

This is a great catch by Malcom.

  4. Anyone have experience using IronCAD on a Chromebook? I have several students stating its difficult to manipulate. I recommend an actual mouse instead of touchpad, but many can't (or won't) use a mouse.

It appears todays students are conditioned for touchscreens (touchpads) more than ever.

Just wondered if anyone had any customization they are willing to share for such matters.

    Cheers

  5. I feel it's just as good as Autodesk if not better. The community is tight knit of users willing to support each other in addition to the resellers and IronCAD directly. If this is your concern, rest assured it shouldn't be.

  6. Yup a Blender integration would be INCREDIBLE!

Below image is a sample of modeling a horn in IronCAD importing into Blender for fine detail and bring in back to IronCAD and 3D print.

  7. I agree with Mike, this is an issue that I feel needs to be resolved. It is a common issue raised by virtually all my customers. It also impedes the ability to turn on the new inner symmetrical handles as well. Maybe putting the dimension boxes at the end of an axis so the red handles are always visible?
