  1.  Adobe AcroBat PDF Exporting Trick. Many times we need to export documents in .pdf format for our sales tools. But being like many companies spending $500 (Acrobat Distiller) to simply convert Word to PDF seems excessive. Then it dawned on me, IronCAD can export to PDF!!! and it is fully Windows integrated. I thought, I should be able to embedd any Microsoft application such as Word, Excel, etc. into the drawing environment and then export to PDF. So I tried it, and wow! it worked. They are a bit grainy but legible. I figure with some playing around with my new found application I can get them less grainy. Once again IronCAD saves me money!. If anyone finds the right formula to better quality, please let me know.
  2. I agree Rick, I guess going from CREATE NEW PART>OPEN in PART MODE>SELECT REFERENCE PLANE> KEY In XYZ> TURN ON HIDDEN ASSY is easier than CLICK ONCE. Its difficult to express to coverted users of other applications that IronCAD doesn't require that HUGE OVERHEAD! NOt only that you, don't loose any functionality in your Assembly structures and external links. Ah!!! I guess it goes back to if its that simple then how robust can it be mentality.
  3. Couldn't you also set the operation of that imported surface to remove material and then boolean. I believe this will work as long as the surface edges extend beyond the part and the material side is correct which could be reveresed anyway.
  4. CONTACT: Tom Lehnhaeuser Magnacad Design Inc. (631) 422-5930 Tom@magnacad.com FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Free IronCAD Training Grants from New York State BABYLON, NY,. June 26, 2003. Magnacad Design Inc. a leading product development and certified IronCAD Channel Partner company has announced the availablity of government funded grants for IronCAD users. After attending a seminar given by the New York State Department of Labor hosted by the Hauppauge Industrial Association, MDI learned of available grants for all companies looking to train their New York based employees. The training is based about educating employees in areas that would promote efficiency and growth to their respective companies. Therefore, retaining their existing workforce and with the hope of creating expanding their workforce. The NYS department of labor is issuing 100% reimbursement grants to companies based in New York State and want to create a more educated workforce within their organizations. These grants are directly geared towards IronCAD users, since most of the grants are for education in software applications and business development. “This is a huge opportunity for small and large companies using IronCAD to expand their knowledge of the product and in turn take advantage of IronCAD’s advanced functionality” stated Tom Lehnhaeuser, President of MDI. “This will give IronCAD users the ability to venture into the more robust capabilities that they typically don’t explore under normal operating conditions” added Tom. Through a simple web-based application procedure, The NYS dept of labor has made the process of receiving these grants extremely easily. “Typical approval confirmations are generally about 6 weeks” mentioned Maggie Moory, Dept. of Labor Public Relations. Some basic keynotes are; the maximum grants are $100,000 per company per year. 70% of the funding should be spent within the first year if possible, but not mandated. funding for traveling to training locations is available should they trainer be the sole-provider in your area. The NYS Dept. of Labor intention is to provide funding for occupations that are in demand as well boost the local economy. They feel that many companies already using these grants in other regions are already benefiting tremendously and improving there respective regions economic strengths. 5. Huh! cool tool. Could've used this a couple of times had I known. Thanks Beat
  6. Does anyone know what :AutoSave Interactive Moves means. It can be found by r/c background>Rendering>Camera tab. Its not new, just soemthing I noticed now and sounds impressive whatever it is. autosave moves.bmp
  7. Hi Chris, I tried every setting feasible but couldn;t get it. So I used a differentr image and it worked better, Thanks
  8. Below is an image of a backdrop I want for an animation. I can't seem to get the image to be smooth on this curved surface (notice "breaks" in image). I tried changing settings up and down and it doesn't work. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
  9. I second the motion...still baffled by this one.
  10. Does anyone know a sneaky way to export 2D geometry into iges format in IronCAD? Need to send files to outdated (and obselete) SDRC IDEAS user.
  11. Hi Robert, I actually just figured it out by pulling on it. There are no right click options on it though. It seems that should be some more functions to this handle unless I'm missing something
  12. I take it back, now its not on the anchor...see image handle3.bmp
  13. Does anyone know what this handle on the anchor is, or what its function is? Just curious. handle2.bmp
  14. Did you try to CAP it? Right-click ellipse IntellisHape>Surface Reshaping Properties> Select End Section (or whatever you prefer)> CAP > enter Cap height value.
  15. I can always count on MAC users to help with my color blindness. Thanks Rick that worked fine.
  16. Thanks for all the input , I haven't look at beats stuff yet. But in response to mirroring the part is not right. Thats what the image shows. I really do need a smooth continuous blend. What I did was after mirroring part, I added another blend in the middle which is not ideal, but actually is good enough for us.
  17. I believe the benefits to using Sheetmetal are: If you are the Sheetmetal Manufacturer and therfore could set all your machinery tolerances. If you are not the Sheetmetal manufacturer, it will provide real-world condistions and therfore help in evaluating if a part is manufacturable. Also, you'll know right away if your sheetmetal part have gaps that you may not want in the final part.
  18. We are trying to create a blend that actually has a varaible blend that has the start and end the same but a variable in the middle of this arc. I want to consider this an ER as well, but in the meantime has anyone developed a workaround that would make a nice smooth blend to achieve the blend that I was trying to achieve in the image.
  19. Consider this an ER: It would be nice if you could color parts accordind to a PMS color #. Or at least get the right RGB number percentages to equal a PMS#. If this can be accomplished now, I welcome the feedback. Tom
  20. Just posting a inquiry from a potential IC user (currently ProE) that I figure'd I share... Hey Tom L.! I just read in recent ASME bulletin that they've been asked by DOD and others to issue a standard for 3d model representation, product data definition, etc. Now, I thought that the ISO folks and STEP were going to be the international standard, but... who knows, maybe ASME would like to take it over for some reason or another. What is IronCAD's take on the matter, i.e. ASME's new Y14.41 or whatever 3d model data definition standard, now available for purchase even during review/comment stage? If ASME's standard is better then ISO's, then perhaps in long run ISO org. will adopt the ASME std. as theirs. It's starting to look like we're eventually going to need the Pope to resolve our CAD data x-lation issues. No doubt the French will want ISO as the std., American companies will want ASME, and there will be a big brawl over it all somewhere in the Azores. The only way to resolve it will be to appeal to the Pope and his channel to a higher entity. Yet, Jerry Falwell will want to be involved too since he and all Protestor types have direct channels to the higher entity. Perhaps IRONCAD should hire Dr. Blix, now unemployed Chief U.N. Weapons Inspector, to help on this matter as a consultant. Ciao, TomD
  21. Well that answers my question, thanks guys. I brought it up because many users are always looking for options to get away from Windows and either to Mac, Linux etc.... Tx
  22. We have had some new users having trouble understanding the part selection process. So we have generated this simple diagram to help and figured we'd share. Assyhierarchy2.bmp Assyhierarchy2.bmp assembly.gif
  23. Has anyone tried to run IC on LindowsOS? www.lindows.com. It sounds like something that may be a viable option for IronCAD.

No tricks, just import BUT what's cool is they can come with cameras, lights etc...
  25. Urban, good luck in 2003. Having John Force tech is like owning the Holy Grail. Ha Ha Tom
