  1. Here's a question which might turn into an ER: Is it possible to use the new Zalman 3D LCD monitors with IC10? They are allegedly pretty good and quite attractively priced. Beat
  2. Has anybody installed WinXP SP3 yet? Any incompatibilities with IC10? Thx, Beat
  3. It may have been around in IC9 but in any case, it is quite recent. I was also pleasantly surprised when I found out that it worked now. Beat
  4. For us, the 3D PDF export is currently useless, because the model tree isn't maintained, which makes it almost impossible, to discuss details of the model with the customer. We take the route via Parasolid export and import into Acrobat 3D. The results are very good, but it is a detour we hope to avoid in the future. Beat
  5. I think both Johan and I were referring to the delayed release of the IC10 Hotfix (which is out now, but not announced yet). Beat
  6. I quickly reconstructed the shape in V9 and yes, the blend crashes both with ACIS and Parasolid. Cheers, Beat
  7. VirtualBox is another (good and free) one. Beat
  8. How is X_T different from .SLDPRT? Both are Parasolid-based formats right? Beat
  9. Is there a way to import .sldprt formatted parasolid files into IC? Beat
  10. This ones been around since V7 if I remember correctly. As far as the other points are concerned, it's possible that I've encountered them but not frequently enough to really bother me. Beat
  11. Hey IronFolks (i.e. Cary, Kevin, etc.) - Would you dare attempting to answer my question? I'd really love to know. Cheers, Beat
  12. Cary - any news on when V10 is coming? We're finally getting serious about overhauling our web site, and we plan to use 3D PDF extensively. Cheers, Beat
  13. Yes, there should definitely be a "Unlink completely (external)" in addition to the "Unlink (external)" command. I would even put that as a rather high priority ER. Beat
  14. FYI, it looks like Infograph has replaced the free Modelpress Reader with the free but slightly feature-reduced Myriad 3D reader, has eliminated the free Modelpress Publisher altogether (!), and has reaplced Modelpress Desktop with the much more expensive Myriad Desktop. Beat
  15. I have no idea whether you can get a Blurred Solidworks Ornamental Drawing by removing the swapfile HD. It certainly sounds plausible. You might want to give it a try Also, the results is probably different whether you remove a Windows page file disk or a Photoshop scratch file disk. Cheers, Beat
  16. Just a question on the side: has anybody tried using a fast flash ram stick or card for the swap file? The read/write speeds are not necessarily faster than that of a HD, but the access certainly is... Beat
  17. IC is THE reason why we have never seriously considered moving to Linux in my company. Now if IronCAD for Linux became available, we would seriously reconsider the option. But I would expect to be able to cross-grade for free or for a small fee. Having to buy new licenses would probably not be an option. My guess is that many IC users would think along the same lines. So the money would come from new users which are unlikely to buy the product before it exists. Still, IC would probably be able to increase its marketshare significantly, if a Linux version existed. But the first move would have to come from IronCAD LLC. just my $0.02 Beat
  18. The current IC partner CD includes a one-year license for IronPRO. Will this license be renewed with the release of IC10, meaning that IronPRO finally becomes a part of the IronCAD package (which would certainly figure among the greatest new features of IC9) or will we have to pay for it again next year ? Cheers, Beat
  19. If I remember correctly, the 3GB switch needed an additional patch to the system for many WinXP SP1 (and earlier?) systems. It should work fine with XP SP2. Beat
  20. Not really, because they are alreay assembled (in the pattern). The need to pre-assemble linked instances is a simple consequence of the limitation that IC does not allow to move multiple selections. A pattern, however, can be selected and moved as a single unit. Beat
  21. It has always bothered me that parts are not automatically deselected when they are hidden. Beat
  22. Another great one is qvPDF (http://www.nbsi.de/phpBB2/index.php). It is based on GhostScript and allows you to set all print options (security, format, etc.) with invisible text in the document itself. So you can directly assign print options with different drawing templates, just to give one example. Cheers, Beat
