  1. Wayne, Thank you very much for those kind words! We tried our best to make this our first usermeeting as filled with useful info as we could. Im impressed hove everybody really had their interest on their top level. The conferens manager on the boat said that he newer hade any conference group being up that early in the morning! We just published some images from the conference at our website: www.solidmakarna.se Click on the upper right text saying "IronCAD användarmöte 2006" Swedish text only.
  2. Tom, you also have cylinders accessable...and HEY hole shapes too!
  3. bstow, -Maybe you could use offline folders. -Maybe you could use DesignDataManagers (DDM) RIF (RemoteIntelligentFileservers) servers. http://www.designdatamanager.com/products/RIFS/ddm_rifs.html
  4. You can change it after the section is layed out, but this setting is stored at drawing level meaning you should change your .ICD templates. To do that select "Styles Layers and defaults" in IC drawing envirement. Then select "Views" in the colum Drawing Elements. Then select "Default Style" in the Aviable Styles box. Now the button Modify gets clickable. Click and remove any text in the box "Last used ..." Save the file As Template. Test it.
  5. I think it could be good to involve some graphical prewiew of whatever axis value field is selected. Like if you are working in the anim editor and select the field "Roll" ,that rotation axis should lighten up in the graphics area making it absolutly clear for the user what the effect will be. This could maybe be implemented in a number of places in IronCAD.
  6. I would go for .SAT or X_T or .STEP Iges should be last try. Why not send the first parts in several formats, and discuss with your supplier what format he likes the most? Its pretty fast done.
  7. Some good info about codec´s: http://www.gromkov.com/faq/general/divx_quicktime_wmv9.html
  8. Sure you can change the stepping value! When Triball are on, rightmouse click anywhere and select "Change Snap Encrements"
  9. I pretty sure you cant have transitions between each frame. Its more to have between different film sections.
  10. You may also want to delete the file ironcad.tbc It will then be recreated when IronCAD starts with many defaults settings.
  11. Heres some more links: www.3Dcafe.com http://www.deathfall.com/ a lot of stuff associated with 3D graphics http://www.aversis.be/extra_hdri/app_hallway.htm have HDRI texures that could be converted to ordinary textures or used in high end renderers. http://tirad.com/reviews/hyperfocal.htm more HDRI textures. http://www.spectralogue.com/textures/index.php
  12. I have and older version for, I think IronCAD 3, and I can say that its really worth reading and with high quality on the issues covered. Anyone interested of learning (and learn more) IronCAD should have a copy.
  13. Very nice! Im wondering if those shapes are "shelled"
  14. Sometimes it may be neccesary to reorient hove IC looks at a part, when creating 2D views. IC just looks in a straight angle in to whatever is in the scene. This anim shows hove to handle this issue. Note 1 "Coordinate System" have the label "Datum plane" in IronCAD 8.2 and older. Note 2 If this assembly is inserted (used) in a another scene, it will KEEP its orientation in that scene. Still its good to check that thats the case until you are familiar with it. If you turn/ move the parts inside a assembly, it will of course reorient where used also. You can use this technigue OR you can place the camera as you like in the scene and then refer to that camera when placing the views in the drawing (From scene in the view creation dialog).
  15. Mike, if we can grab the part names, those can be easiley copyed to any property field of the part (per part, so to speak)
  16. Tom, if we create a scene search tool that searches for all parts with a specific SceneBrowserPartName and change (on find) to a user set name, should that work?

  18. I agree with Tom. Metods to automate basic X Y orientation of grid can be : -Auto Point X/ Y to the side of the clicked surface with the largest surface area on. And make X aligned to the longest edge (if straight) If not straight, orient to global/ part global with respect to perpedicular to surface (or point) clicked. -Or use actuall view that the user have, and orient after that. -If the user clicks randomly in the middle of a surface, IC can slip to the nearest corner, or center point if circular. This should be an option under Tools/ Options/ to turn off on this behavior.
  19. Right Tom! Why not have 3 parallell folders under the Template folder: -Scene -Drawing -BOM And the user should be pointed to the respective folder on Template Save As.
  20. Brian has a point here, when you save a scene or a drawing as a template, IronCAD automaticly shows the template directory (Wish is set under Tools/ Options/ Directories). But when a user want to save a BOM design as a template for future use (.ICB ), IronCAD dont bader to to that directory browse. -Soo, I guess this is a ER. Please let IronCAD show the active template directory on BOM template Save As
  21. Im pretty sure Rhino can import point clouds. Point clouds are easy to create but not very smooth to work with. The best is if the scanner can produce some kind of surfaces instead, like nurbs.
  22. Soo this is what you suggest? 1. IronCAD 9.0 will use a API that could be used to program applications in both C++ and VB. 2. The old VBA automation envirement will be removed.
  23. -If you run a animation in IronCAD, you can click pause to temporary halt the animation. Then, in that state of the motion, you can export a image (File/ Export/ Image) Can be good to use in some situations. -Dont forget that you can drag directly in the slider on the Smartmotion toolbar, to move the timeline in realtime.
