We have some new orders coming in and the design work shall start in middle/end of april. I realy hoped that they could be started directly in V9 ( I realy hope for some great enchangement, especialy in the drawing environment) Is that something that I can seriously plan for? ( My other alternaive is to do half of the work in IC V8 and the rest in AutoCAD ) / Marcus

I don't fully understand the questions but I shall try to put in some information as good as possible. 1) Yes I want to have 3D Curve, Text, or 2D Profiles in external links. Especialy 2D drawings like dwg-files that I get from for example architects. And yes, if I have it I want it to be listed in that assembly. 2) I have all my wires, cables and tubes as 3D curves because I have to know the lengt of them and that I cant get from a sweeped solid in IC. 2D shapes I use for showing alternativ placement, parts not in scope of supply, movement centerline. I also use it for puthing in 2D-drawings as background (but that is not working very well right now). 3) First hand real part, second construction ( best would be to set an active option) 4) Same as 3) / Marcus

If you do this often I suggest you take a look at a 3:rd part program called IronPRO. With that tool you can put together parts to one part with a lot of intelligence still there. If it is a one time shot or if you don´'t need the intelligence use the "combine" tool under the shape drop down menu. / Marcus

That is one of the "basic" Windows functions that I realy miss, at least to be able to serch and replace on one drawing. / Marcus

Is it possible to make a print in a user set scale (1:100 for example) directly from the scene, without doing a drawing? This would realy speed up in the consept stage, when I have to make printouts for discussions and to be able to meassure on them. / Marcus

Dont you have a release plan or is it secret? Is there a list of what will come in it (maybe also secret ha)? / Marcus

Hi all! I don't know the birds name but it was one of the featherless types. What I heared was that IronCAD will tighten the relese plan. By the way, I invest almost 2000$ ayear as a select member. I would realy like to know what I pay for, is that to much to ask for? / Marcus

A little bird wispered in my ear that V9 will come out in April. Is that true? If so, will there be a beta test period befor that, in Mars maybe? Maybe you are not allowed to say anything, but I had to ask. / Marcus

Hi Cary! Tanks that works. At least for image files like tif and jpg. What is the problem with insert object, why doesen't that work? Isn't that for inserting things like this? Why I ask is because that seems like the obvious choise for a beginner. And that supports pdf:s as well, that is realy good because almost every drawing we get is as pdf and if we can import it directly we have saved us a lot of time and frustration to try to convert it to image. Anyone knowing about a good and easy pdf => image converter for free? / Marcus

Anyone else having ideas how to handle embedded objects in a good way? This is very important for me to solve. I'm begining to run out of ideas how to have things as background in scale. I have tried to import a dwg with no luck and I thougt this may be the way!? Any better formats than pdf? like tiff, jpeg, bmp? / Marcus

Try this: -Select the hole -turn on triball -move the triball to the center of the rotation ( in this case the center of the tube) -lock axis for the rotation ( in this case along the axis of the tube) -now hold down the right mouse button and make a rotation. -when you relief the button you select "copy" or "link". -in the dialog you now can set number, "angle" and "step up". The step up is the distans the hole shall be lifted between each copy. This will not be a real editable pattern, only copies or links. Good luck! / Marcus

Is it possible to set a better resolution for embedded objects? I have inserted a pdf object and it looks terrible in IronCAD, wery low resolution I think. The same object opened in adobe reader looks much much better even when you zoom in. In the properties/rendering you see fields for resolution but they are greyed out, is it possible to change this fields in any way? Also "make background transparent" is greyed out, How can I set that? Is there better support for any other formats that pdf, if so what? Is there better methods than just "insert object" and select the file wanted maybe? / Marcus

It is a lot that I would like to have in the 2D catalogs like electrical, pneumatic symbols but as long as the shape groups geometry are not snappable that is not relevant (I have to do that part in AutoCAD). What I do have right now is legend text, drawing heads, drawing frames, symbols like rev marks, rev clouds. The BIG problem I have is this that the views are "autocenter" so if the oyther boundary is changed the geometry is moved (again centered to the view). This mean that all my symbols is placed in wrong place and I have to move them all. Totaly out of control, I fear each time I have to place symbols that is not connected to the view. Anyway I have to have them. / Marcus

Layers in the crosssection of Iron Cad. Yes, please! That would realy fix many problems I have right now. And decrease the need of AutoCAD. Right now I have to use that for some tasks, layouts for example where I have to have a arcitect drawing as reference in the background. And this with layers/linetypes/color are a main reason. / Marcus

After a "Shape/Reset size box" everything seems to work. Or am I wrong? I constantly get in to this that I have to Reset size box. I dont have a clue whats going on and why this is hapening. / Marcus

Sorry to say! Using layer is not an option. Most of the time the fysical objects are drawn on the same layer and only the annotations/drawingframes are possible to turn of because they are on another layer. Please put it as an ER. / Marcus

Maybe a little late but anyway, My first ER to the sneak peak for PU1: - "Selective Closed Profile Intellishape Creation": Please let us deside if we would like the non-selected geometry to folow with to new feature or not. This because sometimes at least I have wery much geometry in the 2D planes. Especialy when importing 2D dwg that shall be modelled up to 3D. It can be dwgs for heavy machines, big buildings etc. It must be easier to translate 2D to 3D. Some parts of the world is still flat but I'm working on it / Marcus
