I should know this by now, but it's been confusing me what type of line this is. I have a line in "edit drawing view" that I want on my dimension layer (red). It's connecting centermarks, centerlines, etc. However when I select the line right click and get properties it's called out as Style: 0.50mm Solid, Line Type: 0.50mm Solid. I want to have it on the dimension layer every time I connect center marks etc. So if I go to Styles, Layers, and Defaults. I have "View Curves" and "Sheet Curves" set to dimensions layer but it still doesn't draw on the dimension layer. What am I doing wrong. Is there another layer I need to set to dimensions?

  2. The resolution for the any was the option to include Geometry points for this particular case. In this case, the arc are small. Many users want the arc to place the dimension to the centerpoint. If Any included the quadrant, you would always need to zoom in to get the arc. So it was a sort of a lose-lose case here. We tried to pick the most common need as the default for any to resolve this condition.

    Whatever is best

  3. When I edit a view in a drawing, why does my line snap to the first center mark but not to the second one (when I have snaps set to "Any"), but if I set snaps to "view elements" then the line attaches OK?

I'm guessing "view elements" snap settings is for editing a view, but the first snap works when snaps are set to "Any" and then I can't attach the line to the second center mark. Anyway, would be nice if "Any" worked since it is the default.

  4. Steve & I (and all the other IronCAD power users at our company) are using Quadro FX1500.

Well it looks like the type of video card probably doesn't have anything specific to do with this problem then unless it only happens with older cards.

  5. Oh yeah... the grid is showing thru on picture two. I have seen that Steve.

I did a little more experimenting with the problem and so far the only thing I can come up with is the thinner the material and possibly more complex the assembly the more lines tend to show thru. Sometimes lines don't show thru at all and sometimes they do even with the same part and in the same scene & view. It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, but when I see the lines I can select the feature right thru the part.

I don't remember problems with the Quadro cards I've used before but wasn't happy at all with the ATI Fire card I had. The ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT I'm stuck with on this Mac has been working better than the Fire card though the screen doesn't look as good as I remember with the Quadro cards.

So Steve if you don't mind me asking, what kind of card are you using? You can guess what I'm betting on. At least... I'm curious to see if this problem might be worse with ATI. That's all I'm saying.

    Thanks

  6. Kinda like these? Fairly easy to replicate with simple blocks. Very annoying.

Thanks Steve - that be the problem. Glad I'm not the only one to see it. Thanks for posting. I should have put something up there. I didn't seen anything wrong on your second picture but it's obvious on the other two.

    Thanks again,

    Doug

  7. Tom,

Oops, Sorry I'm talking about .ICD here:

Are you talking about making a new drawing? on v12 I had to go to the menu File>New and select the type of file from there otherwise if I selected File>New Drawing (directly) think I had that problem and would get the CAXA default for some reason.

Seems to be better on v12 PU1 and now I get a blank sheet when I select "New Drawing" but at least it's not defaulting to CAXA like before. It would be nice to have a choice for drawings when you select "New Drawing". But right now I get a blank drawing and I don't know if there's a way to change that.

If you're just trying to open drawings it doesn't look like it matters what type it is when I open them so I don't understand that one.

  8.

I did a quick search in the forum but didn't see anyone else having this problem...

Sometimes I see lines showing thru on a part that shouldn't show on front of a part such as from a pocket or some other feature on the back side where the part gets thin near the front. Is there anyway known way to correct this from happening... or maybe problem is the video card I'm stuck with that's on the trailing edge of technology?

  9. It's a limit on the dimensions of the .jpg, something like 1280 x 1024 or 1600 x 1200.

It's easy to resize in Paint but I noticed the same problem with PNG yesterday and had to resize a couple times... seems like it was a lot smaller than that but I could be wrong.

  10.

The Microsoft update doesn't seem to have helped with regards to the parts/assemblies disappearing. However, I cannot get IronCAD to lock up and crash anymore if I try to move the model with either the mouse, or the controller for SpacePilot when loading large files. I also had this problem and I think it was fixed with the last 3Dconnesion update (before the current release 3.10.1).

  11. Was there ever any resolution to this issue?  One of my co-workers appears to be having this same problem.  Is there a particular 3dx driver that will resolve this, or is the current resolution to ditch the space(thingy) for a while?

    Mike,

I still have the disappearing problem and there was one update for me since the last time I was here. I have not been able to record this problem although it happens on a regular basis.

I think the last update helped to make moving large assemblies easier but it didn't fix this problem as I first thought it had. I rely on having the controller so I put up with the problem and keep trying to record it. Seems like when I try to record this it won't happen for me.

I also just noticed what appears to be an optional update for the controller listed in the Windows 7 updater, but there doesn't appear to be an update when I run the 3DxWare updater. So maybe Microsoft has an update for it. I will investigate and let you know if anything has been resolved.

  12.

Is there a way to change templates (sheet size) without losing a drawing?

If I change the sheet size in sheet setup the template stays.

Seems like you should be able to do this.

  13. What menu are you talking about? Do you mean you just enable a toolbar to be visible? It should stay once you restart IRONCAD. What OS are you on? The only reason it would not store the UI setting is if you don't have write permissions to the XML files in that AppData (or Application Data) location under the Users directory.

    Let us know,

    Cary

I added the Camera Picker (toolbar set). It's there now when I restart IronCAD but it wouldn't stay when I added it before (Windows 7). It looks like I have full permissions for AppData. Maybe IronCAD wasn't shut down properly before? Anyway it's working. Thanks

  14. Have you checked with Canon for a new driver?

I've been able to print "D" size without any problem but I downloaded the latest HP print driver when I installed IC 2009.

You might try to uninstall and re-install the driver?

  15.

    Mike,

I found Tooltbl.txt in 2 places you might look for these both and try that first:

    C:\Program Files\IronCAD\2009\AppData\en-us\SheetMetal\

    C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming\IronCAD\IRONCAD\12.0\en-us\SheetMetal

  16. You can turn off the automatic stagger to avoid the issue. Go to the styles and layers and under the dimensions, click on the stagger tab. At the bottom, you will see an option to turn off the automatic stagger.

So have it enabled when you first create the ordinate. Then turn it off when you want to insert date into the group later.

    Hi Cary,

I can't find dimensions in styles and layers or the stagger tab. Are you talking XG?

  17. Hi Steve

    TOOLS>Options>Color>sheet background.

BTW, this has been around for along time, I'm guessing maybe version 6 or so.

    cheers

    Tom,

This works great but then you can't see the lines. What colors do you have to change for rest? does it invert the colors when you print? Sometimes have a problem changing this because you don't want to lose something in the background.
