  1. I think it is a little of both that we want smaller file sizes because of performance and we cant just say it is ok to have larger file sizes because drives are getting bigger. This is a common fault of Microsoft also that they have this mentality. At my company it is the quantities of scenes and drawings we produce on a daily basis that makes us want smaller file sizes because we are required to keep them at least 2 years before deleting them. I know this isn't IronCADS fault but if we could get them a little more manageable my IS department wouldn't be all over my back about all data we need to save.
  2. I dont know if this happens to other people but I can open a drawing and do a SAVE AS with doing absolutly nothing and the file might get bigger and it might even get smaller by doing this. Is there a reason for this? Just thought I would throw that out there
  3. It is not a comparison to AutoCAD at all. It is just a fact that you have a 40mb file and a 90mb file 130 total mb files just to get a drawing with a couple views in it. Just stating the facts.
  4. welcome to IronCAD file sizes are completely ridiculous if you ask me.
  5. oh my god with all the bugs in pu1 there has to be a pu2. How come there is never a list of items that you can give us when you say SUGNIFICANT CHANGES to be made. Half of the things that you come out with never really benifit my company but when we suggest items that are in other cad packages that we could use they get ignored and we get a cog add on..... wow needed that for sure. How about fixing the bom resizing on save or something simple like that that has been an error for 3 versions now. Sorry for the rant but I had a nice holiday and come back to the same errors as when I left.
  6. no macro's here either. I turned off the center of gravity thing on the add in tools just to see if that makes a difference. We are having a ton of different problems here, almost too many to send in but Carey I will send you a couple of error reports. A couple of problems that we are having is parts that are in our catalogs that were treat as part are now set to expand so we have a ton of blank lines in our bom. Panning while views are tiled you get jumpy graphics, opening and saving a drawing takes twice as long even if it is a drawing already opened w/ pu1. Drawing crashes on canceling of printing to pdf. Just a couple of problems. How do you go back to 9.0 if you have drawings that you have already saved in pu1? This is not a bug report post just a general post to see if my company is the only one having these types of problems or are you guys going straight to IC with your concerns since no one is posting on this Thanks Brian
  7. So is anybody having as many problems with this new update as the 10 people that are in my department? Opening and saving has almost doubled and these random errors (mem bad pointer (on opening)) Canceling on sheet export turns sheets black, unable to save (bad expression) when doing a save as. Just seeing if anyone is having these problems too. One step forward two steps back.
  8. how long do you think before 10.0 comes out?
  9. ok its next week where is our update...... just kidding but I am excited
  10. yes please lets see a new update but I want it for the fixes not the message board posts!
  11. Its early November and I havent heard a peep about an update. Can you give us some dates and potential fixes please!
  12. Well there are a couple of bugs that I would have thought IronCAD would have paid immediate attention to instead of making us wait for a product update. Example the scaling tool does not work now and it worked perfectly before and the eliminating of the shortcut keys. Come on guys how about a little tech support here.
  13. maybe a right click when it says rendering it could say rendering with advanced options and it would give you the effects from your scene and this would be static not constantly be updating ..... dunno just throwing it out there
  14. I am new to this and I am not sure if this is an industry standard but why cant I get the same options in the drawing for rendering as I do in the scene with the ray tracing and antialiasing. I don't like the fact that I need to export an image and then place it on the drawing as a jpg or something like that. If anybody has any info or suggestions they would be appreciated. thanks Brian
  15. Is there any time line on the pu for 9. I am really hoping some things get fixed that I use every day that used to work in 8. Thanks Brian
  16. open GL doesnt really speed it up for us either
  17. When are they going to fix the re-sizing of the bom after a save. Come on we have been asking for this fix for 3 versions now!
  18. How come the window select doesn't work right away or is it just me. I have to click and hold my mouse in one spot for 2 seconds and then do my box. What happens now is if I don't wait it starts about in the middle of all the things I want and I continually have to do it over if I am inpatient which I know I am. Do you think it is my computer or is anybody else having this problem too? Thanks Brian
  19. is this possible IronCAD guys?
  20. any word on this ironcad guys?
  21. Does any one know if there is a way to set IronCad that after you save a file in a folder that when you go to link a drawing to your scene it automatically is in that folder allready. I know how to set a start in directory but I have many files in this directory and it would be a lot easier if Ironcad just remembered what folder you were in last. Any help with this would be great Thanks. Brian
  22. IC did have a document manager called team vault. You might want to contact them to see if they are still producing it. B-
  23. Christian I agree with you completly, now by saying this I will get known as an IronCAD hater and all my posts will be discounted and any questions asked will not be answered. This is why you do not find any other posts like your on this board. I cant beleive someone went right for the throat and said "do you have formal IronCAD training" We are educated people on this board and I think we try many ways before posting to this forum FOR HELP and instead we get the well here is the work around for this and here is the workaround for that. Why is there work arounds when the program should just function correctly. Jonas this isnt directed to you at thanks for answering his question. It seems like the public have been asking for simple fixes and things for the longest time and no one seems to care. Yes IronCAD is great for some 3d modeling leaps and bounds above other programs but if you dont do things in the right order or just how ironcad likes it to get a simple drawing out BAM, ZOOM have a nice day with no autosave backup to go to. Well let the flames come just asking to make a program that there arent so many workarounds and 2d wasnt back in the dark ages.
  24. but do you think there can or ever will be a way to order your bom?
