[Ironcad Vs. Ms Outlook]

I have Outlook 2002 (Office XP) and it's been o.k. with that...

 

Oh I know, tell Microsoft to change their extension!

Oh my Gosh! You guys, YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS!

 

Here's how YOU make Windows open IronCAD with the .ics extension AND have the right icon thingy too:

 

1. Go to any windows explorer window (assuming were talking windows XP)

2. Click on 'Tools', then 'Folder Options' (at the bottom)

3. A separate window comes up with 3 tabs, click on the 3rd one called 'File Types'

4. You will see a list of EVERY file extension your computer uses.

5. Scroll down until you come to 'ICS'

6. You'll see the MS Outlook icon next to it if you're still in frustrationville

7. Single click it

8. Go below where you see the 'Change...' button

9. You'll come up with a list of applications to choose from. It's thinking, these are the ones I think are close. No worry if IronCAD is not listed. Just hit browse and locate the ironcad.exe file on your computer.

10. Also, check the box 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' and you'll be praising the Lord, brother!

1) "Inability to double-click to open an IronCAD files"

I have stopped double-clicking windows files years ago.

If you do, windows will open that file with the software that windows "think" should open the file. I think you give windows a lot of trust if you do. I always rightmouse/ open with, or drag from explorer and drop in IronCAD to open .ics files.
