  1. It's my windows theme colors. I am a backwards kinda guy, so I like the backwards colors. Only drawback is that lots of programmers out there define white backgrounds and "automatic" text color, which makes things kinda hard to read sometimes. I can send you the .theme file if you want, but it won't let me attach it to the post. Note to programmers: If you specify a text color, specify a background color as well. If you set automatic text color, set automatic background color as well.
  2. Doh!.... That seems pretty obvious now that you mention it. Thanks.
  3. I have a cross section which has been created, which is basically a 1/2 ellipse with a straight, tangent line attached to it (see bad immage below...which actually shows the ellipse converted into a spline, but you get the idea) I am trying to use this path as both a guide curve for a sweep and as a path for a "Link along curve" operation (it is going to be a curved ladder...). Anyway, I took the 2D sketch, converted it to a 3D line, and proceeded to produce the sweep with no problems. When I trying to work the "Link along 3D curve", I am getting interesting results. The "rungs" will not follow both sections of curve. I can either get them to go in a straight line forever (they bypass the turn...), or (if I reverse the 3D curve direction), I can get them to follow the ellipse (in which they will continue along the elliptical path which has been trimmed away). I can not ever get them to do both. I have tried everything I can think of, (I even tried converting the ellipse part of the curve to a spline using a little double-offset action in 2D), with no luck. So... am I doing something wrong here or what? Edit: P.S.; for some reason the site "crashed" (for me anyway) when I tried to upload a *.JPG image, which I assure you, looked a lot better. Edit Edit: It looks like *.jpeg works fine, but *.JPG dosen't.... FYI
  4. Is there an official "What's new in 9.0" document or list or anything out there yet (other than the list from the beta 1 release)?
  5. Well, here is what I have found so far: Fill Style images print perfectly if there is an existing "Create Object" bmp somewhere on the sheet. If there is no bitmap object on the sheet, then all bets are off. Sometimes they print, most of the time they don't. (Still working on determining the conditions....) If you supress an OLE object (specifically an inserted bitmap) on the drawing sheet, that item can not be selected in order to "unsupress" it.
  6. Thanks, but I already went through all the search results (including that, and several other links). The "insert object" method does not appear to allow you to lock-out the image. I guess a better question would be: Does anyone know the conditions under which an image inserted via the "Fill Style" method will print on a printer? I can get a partial image to print sometimes, but I can never get a whole image to print all the time.... ...stupid new logo...
  7. My company just got purchased, and I am in the process of updating our drawing templates. I have about 100 different new company logo pics (.jpeg, .gif, & .tif formats) that I am trying to get into the template (I just need one image in the template). I would like the logo to be on a locked (template) layer (i.e. the insert object method is out). I seem to be having trouble getting everything to go smooth, so I figured I would ask. My requirements are as follows: -The aspect ratio of the original image must be maintained. -The logo must print out on drawings (this has been my problem so far) and appear on exported .pdf's. -The logo must be "locked" / reside on a locked layer. So far I have tried the "inset object" method, but I can't lock the image down. I tried drawing a box and throwing the logo in through the fill style, but sometimes they don't print, and you don't have good control over the aspect ratio. How are you guys (and gals) out there doing it? I need to learn some new tricks. Thanks!
  8. I haven't heard anything about team vault since (that was Alventive/VDS software I believe) the IC guys created IronCAD LLC out of Alventive...
  9. That is unfortunately an accurate description of the situation you have put yourself in. This is an IronCAD COMMUNITY, where users voluntarily (those of us who do not work directly for IronCAD) log on and attempt to assist others. Have some respect for that. Your forum tone and demeanor is going to put yourself into a situation where the only ones who will help you are getting paid to do so. There are many people here who have been using IronCAD since before it was IronCAD, and have seen and solved a ton of problems. If you would like to not alienate that knowledge pool, I suggest a serious re-evaluation of your forum etiquette. Edit: Um... I think the "Spell Check" function is on crack. It appears as if it is miscalculating where to insert the correctly spelled words....
  10. The rest of us ask for help and try to learn tricks around various problems insted of just complain...there really are very few problems you can't get around. And in this case, the old saying, "You can catch more flys with honey than you can with vinegar" might be of interest to you. ...of corse, you throw some of us into say a SW forum and I'm sure we would start complaining.
  11. Actually... the "TriBall" tag came right after my 14K bonus posts... I mean.. well... shoot... I-beam used to be the top-cat, but what is cooler than the Tri-ball no? Seems fitting to me. I was more powerfull than Tom for about 2 posts... As for all the posts... lets be honest. Anyone who spends enough time on this forum knows that Tom is the man, and I've just bribed my way to the top. ...and I wouldn't wish those evolutionary alternatives on anyone...
  12. I was thinking more along the lines (of a macro run in the scene): -Search for all parts who have the part name "x" (<-simple input field) -Set each of those found items to have a part number "y" (<- another simple input field) Kinda a poor man's re-link. I don't think it will take too much time (especially considering the alternatives when you are looking at 8k parts), but I'm fighting IT for my VB 6 CD back....
  13. I think if you provide the option to alter some of the part sub-properties (like, say... Part Number) that would work. For the BOM situation, its the part numbers that matter, not the names. You got something similar already in the works?
  14. I understand... I'm up to something...(sinister laugh).
  15. All similar fasteners (same BOM line) I assume have the same "Part Name"?
  16. You are not accusing anyone at IronCAD of padding my post count by about 14000 or so due to numerous complaints and smart-ass remarks are you? That would just be wrong
  17. ...so, approximately how many items long is the east coast? What % of the BOM items are fasteners and what % are "real" parts? I am facinated by this problem...
  18. Draft mode seems to produce more accurate (as far as visible/hidden correct/missing) line drawings when the scene parts as set to ACIS as the default kernel. That and the Draft mode seems to load a little faster when you have pretty huge views... ...I don't use it... but I would hate to see options dissapear...
  19. If you do that, I recommend setting your default kernel to parasolid as well. In my experience, the best drawing results come from either ACIS+Draft or Parasolid+Precise.
  20. Option #3: Make a 2D drawing out of the view you want (on a blank template), then export the drawing to a .dxf. Re-import that dxf into a 2D shape (in a scene). Extrude the 2d shape. Extract a surface. Use the analysis tools. No matter what, (at this point) it is going to take you more than a couple clicks...If you want a single click profile for complex 3D Geometry then no point waiting for addl suggestions for putting in an ER.
  21. Try throwing a section plane through the part, then right click on the section plane & select "create section geometry". Then you can select your new surface and use the analysis tools on that. ...if that dosen't work, you need to use the "project 3d edge" to produce a 2d profile, then extrude that 2d shape, then extract a surface from that in order to use the analysis tools.
  22. ...weird...when I searched for "/3GB" last time I got 0 returns. "*/3GB*" gave me a little more (perhaps 3 or so). But "boot.ini" gave me the most. And in almost ALL the "boot.ini" returns there were refrences to "/3GB". Maybe it was user error...
