  1. Yeah... you brainiac types tend to do things the hard way (j/k) . I can immagine the 50 lies of code you have to do the same thing. Us functional retards take a look at the problem, realize that it is too hard to tackle, then give up. Then two days later we stumble on the solution accidentally when wiping the spilled coffee and drool off the keyboard. MikeT.
  2. I don't know anything about anything, but here is a hint.... You can "export" registry settings to a file (*.reg) by simply right-clicking on the registry "folder" you want and choosing "export" (this will create a .reg file in a location you specify). You can "import" registry setting which are entered into a proper .reg file by simply double-clicking a (the) *.reg file (that you may or may not have created in the step above). Just a general FYI Enjoy MikeT.
  3. Well, in your case I would start off with the /3gb switch for Windows.... there is lots of info and detailed instructions on that here (requires Windows XP). This will at least get you using ALL of your computing power. As for the crashes.... MikeT
  4. I too would like to know what you are working on where you are seeing increased anthing other than productivity. Personally, I have been dancing a jig over here with all the speed improvements from even 7.0 (which was light years ahead of 6.0). The models I have been working on have gone from nearly unbearable in 6.0 to downright fun in 7.1. Now, the IronCAD community is a GREAT place to get any problems you are having solved. We are not psychics, nor swamies, nor the complaint department. A great man once said: "If you got a problem, Yo, I'll solve it. Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it" -Vanilla Ice ...so, what is your problem? Signed Dances Like a White Boy (MikeT)
  5. What about custom templates we made in 7.0? Is it ok to keep on using them? MikeT
  6. Are there any changes significant enough to requre updating templates (drawing and BOM) or are we good to go with stuff made in 7.0? MikeT
  7. I was just customizing the windows theme colors (classic themes), but is dosen't matter any more... you guys fixed it. I also like being able to correctly select text in the posts too. Nice improvements! MikeT
  8. I would like to HIGHLY recommend (from past experience) that instead of modifying the boot.ini file as Cary mentioned (by simply adding the /3gb switch to the end of the existing line) that you modify it as follows: ====example OTHER EDITED boot.ini===== [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="????" multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="???? /3GB" /3GB ============================== The only difference being the copying of your normal boot loader line and adding the switch to your new line. This will allow you to recover quickly if your manchie has any problems with the /3gb switch (see the microsoft knowledge base for more info). If you are running on FAT32, then it is not such a risk, but if you are running NTFS, recovery can be a real P.I.T.A. MikeT
  9. Oh yeah baby! There are some oldies but goodies on that list (which is nice) along with all the latests "hot topic" issues. You guys have been hard at work haven't you! NICE JOB! MikeT
  10. Thanks for the info. Up 'till today (9/7/04) it was working great. This morning I tried the old space-mouse link and got a 404 error. Looks like you guys are back at requiring correct CASE in the address. Is this the case or is it a finiky after-lunch sort of problem with the ether being out of balance? I think you guys are underestimating my lazieness! I really don't want to type that WHOLE address into my web browser, and getting to my Favorites takes far too many mouse clicks MikeT (Sorry, I haven't had any IronCAD problems lately and I am tyring to become a Bolt Circle)
  11. I have a little beef with the new boards: I am one who hates the default Windows "Theme" (the colors a.k.a. Windows Classic) and I take some time to get colors I like. In some cases, I have text displayed as something other than black (currently light yellow text on dark blue background). The new board sometimes uses the currently set "Windows" text colors on top of pre-defined backgrounds. For example, right now (as I type in the edit window) I can tell that there is text on the "Add This Attachment", "Add Reply", and "Preview Post" buttons, but I cannot read the text (as it is light yellow on light blue). Also, I can tell there is some text after "Open Tags:" directly above the post window, but that appears as light yellow text on a white background... Anyway, to make a long story short: "Don't use "Windows" text colors on top of "non-windows" (or pre-defined) backgrounds. If you specify a button or background color in code, make sure you specify the text color as well (something other than "Automatic"). Again, do not mix "Automatic" colors with specified colors cause you can get some crappy results. MikeT (Sorry for the rant, but it happens all the time!)
  12. You got a plotter that will print a 50 x100 sheet? That is impressive. If not (which I think is kinda likely), and you are attempting to plot that on something reasonable, the image will need to be scaled. Unfortunately, IC7 has a problem with Print Preview in that it won't "scale to fit" (if you are printing a 50'x100' on an 8.5"x11" your print preview will show the center 8.5"x11" of your 50'x100' sheet... which most likely won't have anything in it... hence your blank print preview). If you are not really printing on a 50'x100' sheet of paper, I suggest you re-consider your 2D paper size (somthing that can actually be plotted might be nice). Sounds to me like the reason your computer freezes is that you are trying to send too much info to the printer and it is exceeding the printer memmory. In my experience, it is a REAL good idea to have your IronCAD 2D sheet size set to the ACTUAL size paper you plan on printing to. MikeT.
  13. No kidding? That is some good info! I guess it is time to look thrhough the reg. Thanks! MikeT
  14. I was under the impression that all the user defined keystrokes were stored in the ironcad.tbc file, which you are prompted to delete on first use of 7.0 in order to utilize some of the new functionality. MikeT
  15. It's been hijacked for the LINUX revolution baby! PREPARE FOR STABLE, SECURE COMPUTING PLATFORMS! Were coming to the U.S., Canada, the Netherlands, then were going to Atlanta to take the IronCAD building, YEEEAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!
  16. I am at 679M (full IC install), also used Rarely! Perhaps it is a new Microsoft "feature" to let you know how often all the hackers in your system are using the programs, cause I wouldn't call all-day, every-day "rarely". THANKS BILL! (*cough* Linux Version *cough*) MikeT
  17. Did you IronGuys move the community to some new servers recently? All of a sudden the macros I wrote for my spacemouse in Internet Explorer (basically ones that open the community website) don't take. It appears that the cause is that 3dConnection only records keystrokes as CAPS, and so I have to use the address "WWW.IRONCAD.COM/COMMUNITY/" (this will resolve to "www.ironcad.com/COMMUNITY/" but still generate a page not found error)... so I end up having to re-type a lowercase "community" to get to this site. Hows about you have your HTML guys fix it so I can be the laziest guy that I can be . All this typing is giving me cramps.... I guess it is time for a break. MikeT. EDIT: Opps... nevermid. If I make the pointer "WW2.IRONCAD.COM/COMMUNITY/" then everything works just fine.
  18. ok... thats odd. I guess I'll chalk this one up to my possessed computer. MikeT
  19. It's too easy! Thanks. Did that go from being default on in 6.0 to default off in 7.0, or is IronCAD soooo easy that my unused brain cells are going on permanent vacation? MikeT
  20. Am I missing something, or does IronCAD no longer highlight features that are linked together in the same part? It also looks like it no longer highlights any linked parts either. I really liked that feature... whats the deal? I know there were some problems with the highlighting in the betas, but removing the feature all together seems kinda extreme... MikeT.
  21. ...without writing some custom code. The older IronCAD automation tutorials have some good write-ups on customizing the BOM. I would think (if you could find a clever programmer) it wouldn't take TOO many lines of code... especially with the new ICAPI! MikeT
  22. Ooooooo......must download....BOOYA! [Drool...] Thanks!
  23. The IronCAD homepage has been updated... new items include the announcement of the release of 7.0! BOOYA! It states that shipping will begin at the end of this month. IronDudes- Is there going to be an option to download the latest version off the net before it gets shipped out the door? I would like to get my little grubbies on it as soon as possible! Thanks. MikeT
  24. Saw this link on slashdot this morning. Thought all you fellow CAD geeks out there would be interested: http://www.usc.edu/dept/engineering/news/2004_stories/2004_06_15_desbrun.html MikeT
