  1. OMG.. what the heck is going on with the mirror tool.. when will the instructions tell you to hold the control key?.. sometimes it works.. other times it wont...

Just seemed easier to mirror in v10.. im totally lost here.. not sure if its 11.. or vista..

  2. probably used the simple one.. you know.. the dog.. looking through the book.. HA..

Will have to work something out with you Kevin... Gov computer .. you know.. rockets and all sorts of other cool stuff.. not even allowed to connect to internet.. HA..

will try to dig deeper into it on friday.. and give you a call friday... otherwise.. will have to make a trip to GA.. which is fine with me... need to take you for a ride in the GTO.. we can smoke up the parking lot.. and have a near death experience..

  3. hmmm ,,, im getting worried now..

I just changed the background of my scene to that faded green.. I opened a new scene.. and set the default to the faded green..

then went to the background tool.. and copied the background file location and put into my current scene..

    I noticed something very strange...

    The location pointed to..

    program files\ ironcad\ ironcad6\ images\

???!!.. WHAT.. I don't have an Ironcad 6 folder on my computer???.. its been a long time since I had IC 6.. i'm still running IC 10..

I wonder if my sheetmetal tool list is somehow grabbing from this hidden ironcad 6.0 folder.. not sure where it is.. thats the problem...

time to do a file search.. maybe its under another user file.. I have no idea..

  4. I also notice faceting on large parts.. large dimensionally.. especially on the drawing.. you have to turn the render settings up really high.. or when you do detail views.. any curves look really bad..

  5. I think I got it figured out.. a method to save a file that is in the process of being corrupted meaning.. you have to do it when you start seeing a string of warnings and errors that prevent you from saving the file.. like curve point not found.. or failed to save.. file not found.. etc when you start seeing this.. get ready.. you dont have much time left.. because before you know it ..you will have a 2k trashed file..

I have to admit.. I am running v10 with no hotfixes.. but this may help someone anyway

On occasion.. copying and pasting the file into a new file.. or dragging into the catalog.. or even a simple save as can work..

In this case none of these options worked.. the file was way too large.. and IC couldnt handle the copy and paste options .. or dragging it into the catalog.. I almost lost the whole rocket.. I had lots of work invested in this assembly and this file was really jacked up..

    This is what I did

With the bad.. or dying file open..

    I opened a new file..

Insert the dying file as a link.. then unlink it..

Do some cleanup work as needed.. then save the file of course

Then I rebooted.. and deleted out the local folder for good measure

When I looked at the bad assembly.. it was gone.. just a 2k trashed file

Hope you never have to use this method.. but just incase..

  6. ??..HMMMM.. not sure i understand.. you mean a way to get a native IC file into another CAD package?.. not that I know of... you would need to get the IC model in some universal format.. step or something... or export it out of IC into whatever the cad system file extension you are using.. but I am not aware of any program other than Rhino.. (i think) that can read the .ICS extension directly..
