00:00 Okay a couple things with external links. So this is just a file I have saved here and kind of want to explain a couple things. So if this is the file and this is your top level node in the tree you'll actually insert that particular node 00:13 into your next your new files. So for example if we go to a new scene and I say insert part assembly and I go to my file this assembly one here and I'm basical under my options my import options here I hope sot that one 00:29 the insert settings I have it as insert as a link inside of here. So when I go ahead and insert that in as a link into this file it's actually linking that particular file in there. It doesn't create a new assembly or anything. It's just that particular file. And if I come back to this file 00:44 it inserts that node inside of there. So no matter what I add to this file so if I add something outside of that node and I come over here it won't come into this because it inserted at that at that current time that was the top node. That's what it brings in. That's what it remembers. So 00:59 this won't impact anything here. However if you add something to that so if I add another part here underneath that so this is a new card that I've added to this file or this assembly 01:08 that will show inside of your in. Okay so that's one thing to note. If you have another type of scene and we're just going to do it in this case so we'll have again this is our assembly file. We'll add another part outside of it. Athis is our file that we have. If we save that 01:29 we'll see this is assembly to inside of here. Now if we insert that into a new scene get a second. Here we go. We go to a new scene and we insert that guy for assembly to what it will actually do is since there's multiple parts at the top level of the scene in according taking some time to do this 01:53 it ll actually create a new assembly. Notice it's not named what I had before. It's called 01:57 a non file here and actually inserts both of these underneath this. So this is actually a cene what we call scene level link. So it's actually a linking to the scene. And it creates this kind of container if you will. So 02:08 if you disassemble list you'll break basically the external link. But it's a kind of a unique thing. In our environment we usually try 02:15 to not let users do that because it is kind it is powerful but it is confusing to use that because it has a different bomb elements than what these are. So you have to know what you're doing or you could get yourself into quite of a bit of ms doing it this way. 02:30 So it's basically creating it's own top level container in this case. So if I went back to that assembly too doesn't matter what I add out here. If I add a couple of shapes out here and then I know even assemble those 02:45 you know this is basically it's taking this entire scene. So when I come back over to scene six it's bringing in the entire scene container inside of there. So it's always that scene level element. So it's a kind of a power 02:56 insert which is unique to us. You don't usually find that in other systems because they have a part and assembly file specifically and you're linking to that particular part. And assembly file itself it doesn't have what we call a scene file. 03:08 So typically you want to have a file with just one note at the top whether it's a part or assembly then insert it and you'll have a link directly to that particular part and that's the ideal way to do that? No 03:19 if you wanted to have in this particular case I think you mentioned you wanted to have all those external links when you insert it what you need to do is basically come into your main file. This is our assembly one file. And inside of here if you come in you can go to menu file. You can basically 03:38 I believe you could do a save all as external of it. Yet that as selected at would go then you file all yer you'll save all its external. So that will allow you to basically save each one of these parts as an external part file. So it'll actually save all of them as external part file. 03:53 Then I can just do this here just do it to the desktop I'm on create quite a few here. But anyways say okay it'll take a second here while I'm recording them to do that. 04:05 But what it should do is it should create an external link for each one of those files. I gues it won't don when I'm dong I recording but it will create each one of these is external 04:13 a part object. And then when you insert it into the scene file you won't only have that. Each one of these will have an extra link as well. So you can create that capability by just saving all as external. But there's not a way to insert and automatically break them all as internal 04:30 are all of them has external links automatically? So that's something you can do if you like to do that with externally. So hopefully that helps clarify what you're seeing in your questions. Let me know if you have other questions.
