  1. Tom, We did a similar "flexible" design animation of a hose wrapping onto a reel recently. You don't need to "overlap" two features. I'll try to find the file and post it. Essentially, what we did was create two "fixed location" intellishapes in a part that were seperated by a distance, then create a loft feature between them. The animation then moves one of the shapes, the loft grows to fit the distance and will account for any "mis-alignment." In our case the hose was being "layered" onto the reel (side to side motion) as the reel rotated. Jesse Engineering Innovation, Inc. - IronCAD Reseller Cedar Rapids, IA
  2. We are "Engineering Innovation, Inc.", an IronCAD Reseller based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We have been providing training on IronCAD (off-site and on-site.) We also offer customized training courses and design services. 3. We just installed IronCAD on several machines and found this problem (launching IronCAD launches "Microsoft Install" window for Outlook.) We canceled the install window, and IronCAD seems to run ok, but still got the message every time we started a new IronCAD session. On an NT4.0 machine with this problem, we launched Outlook (with IronCAD not up) got the install message, went ahead with the install, (basically creating an Outlook .pst for the user.) Then exited Outlook. Now IronCAD launches without problem. Seems to be the fix. We have the problem on Windows2000, and WindowsXP, and will be testing this fix today. Will follow up with an update. Seems to be less hassle than uninstall, reinstall, etc.. Engineering Innovation, Inc. - IronCAD Reseller Cedar Rapids, IA
  4. If you do create or import a part that does not have a flat surface to "look at" you can drop out a block intellishape into your scene to use for "look at" surfaces. It will come in "square with the world" even though your part may not be. You can re-orient the new shape if you want, using the Tri-Ball, so that you don't mess up your drawing. Then rename it to "View block" or something, and suppress it for later use, or delete it, or what ever. By the way, reorienting a part in its model space will mess up "any" CAD system's related drawings. I would not ever recommend doing that. ALSO Note that if you link your part into another scene, you can move it any way you want in the new scene, and it will NOT mess up your drawing. This is why assembly scenes work so well. The part drawing gets its orientation info from the part scene, not from the scenes that the part is linked into. Hope this helps. - - Jesse Engineering Innovation, Inc. Cedar Rapids, IA 52402
