Which render operation are you performing? Export? On-screen Render?
Also, which version are you using?
I'm having no trouble stopping the two rendering operations mentioned above with almost any key. IC7.0.2.1
There's lots of options from your starting point I think.
A cone and a cylinder are suggested by the outline, except for the spline curve on the backbone.
So I would go for a loft, as few as 3 profiles might do it.
Am I missing anything?
Highlight the catalog to be removed
Choose catalogs / close
Also you may want to store your catalog sets for future reference.
Choose catalogs / catalog sets /
Select a set and choose edit
Change the catalog name and remove the "offending" catalog from the list
Choose OK

I've tested the Batch print utility that's on the 6.0 CD and it works for 7.0 icd files.
It prints multiple sheets from a drawing without intervention.
Have you tried the Rhino / IronCad integration tool?
I used it to bring your model into Rhino and unroll the surfaces.
In Rhino you select the model / explode
choose the "surfaces / unroll " tool
The look at camera tool (f7) is also very usefull for aligning the view before using "sandard view". (dont forget the reset and from scene buttons)
I will present the request for more view orientation interface options for the general view dialog to R&D. I think it's reasonable to expect software with such a great interface to have a great dialog interface as well.
Lofts only allow snapping on the end shapes.
Try editing the drawing view and adding reference geometry. This is a one way street, but allows dimensioning in an otherwise in-accessible spot.

Dims snap to end shapes only

Model geometry highlights when adding reference geometry
Dimensions now have something to snap to
