Cary OConnor
Hi All, IronCAD V10 supports the ability to create 3D PDF's and U3D files that can be used in Adobe Reader 8.1.1 to view 3D models. The attached document are some key technical notes that will help you in using the 3D PDF information. Enjoy, IronCAD 3D_PDF_Key_Information.pdf
seckhardt
I just did my first Adobe3D export. It was slow, but it completed. Unfortunately, when I opened the file in Acrobat 8.1.1, many surfaces were missing and the lighting was awful. The 3D viewer is also gone from the downloads page on the IronCAD site. Is there any way to let others view my work?
Cary OConnor
Read the notes in the PDF document for details about the face issue. The faces missing is the Double-Sided rendering issue. You can turn this on in Reader in the 3D Preferences. The Lights can be changed in Reader as well. I like the Day Lights the best, there are others to get a better result. The Myriad viewer has not updated to Hoops 15 so they currently do not support IronCAD v10 files. Call them up and push them to update faster. You can also use the IronCAD Web tool. It will create an HTML page that has viewable 3D Views. It can publish a directory of files. It gives you properties and a way to download the files from the HTML page. Very nice way to share data. Cary 19538[/snapback] Thanks for reiterating what I should have learned from the PDF. It would be helpful if the ability to change lighting were mentioned in the PDF. "CAD Optimized" was the only option that worked to light my model from all angles, although it is rather dim. However, after switching back to Day Lighting it works well??? (I think I need to reboot my day...) I would also suggest that the section of the PDF titled "Requirements for Opening 3D PDFs" be retitled "Tips for Viewing 3D PDF's". I falsely assumed that because I had gotten the model to open that I had met the requirements, so I didn't study this section as I should have.
