HDEAR Posted October 27, 2016 Share Posted October 27, 2016 Is there a way to look at an .ics file ( which could be a linked child file ) and ascertain if its actually linked and if so to what parent. I know you can look at 'file --> References' on any parent file to see what is linked, but doing it the other way around would be handy too. Yes... A part/assembly can be used in many other places (called "where used" or "used on" in PDM a system). So you may find more than one "parent". An assembly is built of parts and sub assemblies (called "requirements" or "consist of" in a PDM system). This is obviously also seen in the CAD system.
