Gear Design Help

Hello All,

I am reaching out to all gearheads in the community. I am trying to create a gear mechanism however I'm stuck since gear design is not on my resume :-)

I have attached the scene for anyone interested in solving.

The Problem.

I have a smaller drive gear that spins at 12 RPM, I need to drive the larger internal gear so it rotates anywhere between 1-2 RPM. I set have chose 2 RPM cause its easy math 6:1 Ratio. So I figured 12 teeth on small gear and 72 teeth on large gear. So my problem is how to determine the circular pitch between teeth on larger gear so it meshes correctly. The larger gear has to roughly stay around 13" diameter.

If anyone can solve I would be forever in your debt :-)

Tom,

For part 110, if you change the "time effect" to "none" and "pan" to "2160" (360 * 6) the gears will stay synchronized when animated.

Is that what you are after?

Hi Steve, thanks but I was trying to size the smaller gear to mate the larger so I could get about 1-2 RPMS out of the larger gear.

But thanks

Tom

Tom,

Don't make me come down there!  wink.gif

Change your Spur Gear "Pan" value from 360 to 2160.

Steve!!! the only think I know about Pans are you throw them in the dishwasher or ride them (Panheads that is :-))

Anyway, that solved the problem, you are the master!

Thanks for the help

Is it available in the USA? I am a sierra nevanda pale ale go to, but it is always nice to try some new ones that are good (most are not these days because everyone and their sister is brewing up beer and slapping a label on it).
