Regeneration after EVERY move.

Not sure what I did, but I noticed a change a few weeks ago, which has been driving me crazy! Every time I make a change to a part, or move a part, the screen regenerates itself. This has slowed my production considerably, and has removed the joy from using IronCAD! This is NOT something that has gotten worse as a drawing got more complicated, it's something that just started one day, and I can't turn it off. I have a quick laptop, which I bought specifically for IronCAD, and updated the NVIDIA GPU drivers, and still have to stop for about 20 to 30 seconds, while the scene updates itself. Is there something that I unknowingly changed? Is there a work-around for this? HELP!!

TIA

Check this out. The setting might have change from DX9 to OpenGL. Please try to set it back to DX9.

It was set to OpenGL, so I changed it to DirectX9; Same problem.

Next, I maintained DirectX9, and changed the part option from "regenerate the part automatically TO "wait to regenerate until the part is deselected"; No change - just changed WHEN regeneration occurred. So, I set back to automatically regenerate part, while maintaining the DirectX9 setting. Any other ideas?? TIA

I have newer seen this strange problem. Could be a hardware failure.

-Is it still there if you use Software rendering?

-Maybe you have installed or updated another Graphic software that is conflicting with Ironcad?

I would test things like:

-emty user TMP folder.

-un/ Re-install Ironcad. Maybe to a different folder (path).

-change Graphics card. Can be hard in a notebook.

-a long shot is that a Windows update caused this.

If you are working on the same files when experience this issue, can you check Options>Performance>Rendering>Ticked items: Use Cached Graphical Display Data; Use Visual Load when Opening Files.

Usually Used Cached Graphical Display Data is is ticked while Use Visual Load when Opening Files is unticked.

Two thing may have change, the Used Cached Graphical Display Data is currently unticked or the Graphical Data itself got corrupted which yo may have to untick, open the file you are working on, save, close IRONCAD. Open IRONCAD>Options>Performance>Rendering>tick back Used Cached Grqphical Display Data.

Also check your TEMP folder while a file is open on IRONCAD, and look for the ic_dbg folder and open Hoops_Debug_Log, down the list it populated about your graphics hardware is should have this line SceneGraphic Hook up: SUCCEEDED.

If you can't get it to display this line, something messed up your Nvidia/IntelCPU IGP drivers. (You have to check this on your Nvidia settings as by default on dual graphics feature on laptop/noteooks is usually on Auto to save power and setting it to Nvidia as default will be the high performance graphic settings) Check if you have the latest Intel graphics driver as well.

Robert is right W10 updates changes current settings you have. I have experienced this when AMD updates there driver and a week after MS issues a new W10 updates things do get crossed like Tom & Jerry never ending cat & mouse chase. Annoying.

This led me to update my hardware to current generation and purchased a W10 retail license to replaced the upgrade W10 version from W7, hoping that I won't deal with this hardware, OS idiosyncrasy.

If all else fails try resting your IronCAD Options, to do this go into the Windows registry and delete:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IronCAD\IRONCAD 19.0

Make sure you don't delete anything else (do this while IronCAD dis closed).

If that doesn't help, I would uninstall and reinstall IronCAD completely.

If you are running Win10pro, there could have been an update for NVidia that loaded. It happened with me. Does it with no warning. Why Microsoft is messing with my video drivers, I'll never know. One day all was well, the next day on the same model, it slowed to a crawl. I went to NVidia's site and downloaded the latest drivers, and it fixed the issue.

Just throwing things out there.

This is the culprit with AMD as W10/MS creates this, it may doing it now also with Nvidia.

By OS default it tick yes, but on the AMD forum they recommend to tick No which actually install drivers properly opposite to what setting warning for No.

Okay, I've tried everyone's suggestions (including the regedit above). I'm running W10 Home. I uninstalled all known MS/Windows updates that I am allowed to uninstall. I uninstalled all programs from March and April, as I was unsure of when I first noticed the issue. I just got done uninstalling and reinstalling ALL of IronCAD including the CAXA stuff. I set updates to be manually downloaded by me (W10 doesn't allow me to just turn off updates!). I manually downloaded updated NVidia drivers this past weekend. And, I'm NOT getting any hardware issues showing up!

I've removed shading and colors. And, my design is NOT complicated, nor large!

IT'S STILL DOING IT!!! I'm at a loss for what to do next!!! I'm posting screenshots of how my Options are configured, as my production has essentially come to a halt!!

I almost forgot, there was an Intel driver for the integrated graphics card (i have one in the CPU, and a dedicated NVidia GPU 1070). I removed it, also, as there were issues mentioned online, and it WAS working fine without it, so I figured what the hell...get rid of it, too.

My machine is, ALMOST, at the point at which I bought it, back in early January of this year. I'm losing my mind!

Can you tell us more about your laptop/notebook? I have read somewhere that there are certain models that have i7-6700HQ heating up as it placed on thin HP notebook/laptop dry.gif . Make sure noting clogs the intake vents on the bottom and sides. This leads to throttling the cpu at low levels to prevent frying it. Check it with HWMonitor.

Also on Options>Parts>When editing parts> select Wait to regenerate until the part is deselected instead of Regenerate until the part is deselected. This will only regenerate when your done with editing most of what you are doing. This setting is good for pcs/laptops with integrated graphics of older generation igp cpus, kinda strange since you have a dual graphics solution. Install the latest drivers for both Intel and Nvidia
